Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Ol Pejeta is a privately managed conservancy with stunning views of Mount Kenya. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the Big Five (elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo) and other species. The conservancy features a special sanctuary for rare and endangered species such as the black rhino, Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, and chimpanzees. Notably, it hosts Kenya’s only chimpanzee sanctuary, providing refuge for orphaned and mistreated chimpanzees.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Day 1: Nairobi to Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
At 7:00 am, guests will be picked up from their Nairobi hotel. There will be a stop at the equator crossing, an imaginary line dividing the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres. Visitors can take a photo at the large sign marking the equator before continuing the journey, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, a game viewing drive in the conservancy is scheduled. Guests will return to the cottages for dinner and enjoy a restful night at the Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Ol Pejeta Conservancy - 6:30 am: Morning game drive with a picnic breakfast, followed by a return to the hotel for lunch. An evening game drive will be followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Mount Kenya National Park
Mount Kenya National Park - After an early breakfast at the hotel, guests will embark on a morning game drive en route to a day trip to Mount Kenya. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunchbox.
Mount Kenya - This day trip is ideal for visitors with limited time who are not aiming to reach the summits. It is tailored for those interested in exploring the fascinating vegetation zones of an equatorial mountain and the rich animal and bird life associated with it.
Mount Kenya - 8:00 am: Arrival at Mount Kenya Sirimon Park Gate (Sirimon Gate 2635m). After completing park formalities, guests will walk through the Tropical Rain Forest, Bamboo Forest, and onto The Giant Heath and Moorlands to reach Old Moses Camp at 3300m (approximately a 3 to 4-hour walk). After a short break and a cup of tea, the journey continues to the Viewpoint at 4000m (approximately a 2-hour hike). Visitors will see various mountain flowers, such as Helicrysum Browneii (Everlasting flowers), Lobelia Telekii, Lobelia dekenii, Senecio keniensis, and notably, giant groundsels (Senecio johnstonii) and Protea kilimandscharica. After taking pictures, guests will descend leisurely to Old Moses Camp for a picnic lunch before being transferred back to their respective hotels.
