An amazing 5-day tracking amidst nature. - Climbing Mount Kenya was a completely different experience for us. As soon as I started the journey on the Sirimon route, I realized that this trek is not just about climbing the peak, but also about experiencing nature from close quarters. The view of the huge trees, rocky paths and Mackinders Valley is really impressive. While descending through the Chogoria route after seeing the greenery of bamboo, fountains and deep gorge valley I wanted to stop again and again. The cooperation and planning of the guides has made the entire trek safe and enjoyable.

MOUNT KENYA JOURNEY - An achievement that I will cherish!
The 5-day Mount Kenya Climbing Expedition on the Sirimon-Sogoria route with Bensia Africa was challenging but incredibly rewarding. Alfred handled all the supplies, from the permits to the equipment, perfectly. Our guide, Simon, was experienced and motivating, he helped us climb rocky valleys and steeps and at the same time shared information about unique plants. Breakfast was tasty and nutritious. Security was at the highest level.

From Sirimon to Chogoria: An Unforgettable Mountain Trek - This trip is not easy, but great for those who love mountains and walking. Walking through Mackinder's Valley, the nature around was very beautiful. The night at Shipton Camp was cold but the experience was good.
Seeing Mau Mau Caves has given an opportunity to learn something new. On the last day, the road through Chogoria was quite long, but the view was amazing. The entire route was well managed. I would like to have this experience again.

A challenging but great experience - The 5-day hike to Mount Kenya was truly unforgettable for me. The first few days on the Sirimon Trail I enjoyed walking through the dry forest and the big trees. Due to the rocky terrain on the way we had to walk a little slower in some places, but the views make us forget the fatigue.
After reaching the Mackinders Valley, the whole place looks like a new world – a calm, cool and wonderful landscape. When descending the Chogoria route I was really impressed by the green bamboo zone, the waterfalls and the Gorges Valley. The guide was very patient and helpful, so the entire trip was safe and comfortable.

Nature, mountains and tranquility..!!!! - The trekking experience to Mount Kenya was truly one of the best moments of my life. We had no idea it would be such a wonderful experience. We started climbing the Sirimon Route - I was fascinated by the natural beauty from the beginning. Huge trees, tranquil forests, and a step-by-step changing landscape - it's like a living picture. The beauty that I saw after reaching Mackinder's Valley is difficult to describe in words. On the way back, while descending through the Chogoria route, the sight of Gorges Valley and waterfalls filled my heart. The Bencia Africa Adventure & Safaris team has supported us tremendously throughout the trip. 10/10

Good experience on budget guided trekking - Our five day Mt Kenya trek was an amazing experience. The hike passes through multiple eco zones, from rain forest to alpine desert. We saw many hyrax, bird species, and some monkeys. The summit sunrise was spectacular. Our route, up Sirimon down Chogoria, seemed like a good choice because it seemed easier to reach the summit from the Sirimon side and then we got to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Chogoria side on the way down.
Our guide, Daniel, knew the trail and the area well and answered lots of questions we had about wildlife, geography, and culture. He was attentive to how we were faring on the trail and helped out when needed. I would definitely recommend him and his crew. Our food and accommodations (mostly tenting) were good quality, and our porters were friendly and helpful.
Those interested should note that two things about the transport to and from the mountain: (1) we were taken to and from Nairobi on the public mini-bus, which was an over three hour drive, and on the return trip, we had to wait about an hour at the bus station before the bus filled up and embarked. This was an interesting experience in its own way but if I were to do this trip again I would probably try to book a private car instead to save some time and comfort. (2) the $50 car pickup on the Chogoria side on the last day seems a bit overpriced and was not really optional for us, because the hike is otherwise impractically long to reach town in time to return to Nairobi by the evening.

Point Lenana and Nanyuki transfers - After finding us off the street the nairobi office organised transport and guiding for Mt Kenya trek to Point Lenana.
One of the tour party had baggage lost by airline and also stomach issues so the organisers were understanding and accommodated going via airport to pick up our luggage on the way to Nanyuki. Once in Nanyuki since we wanted more days to recover and rest we delayed start date a little and that was also flexibly accommodated by guiding team.
Our point of contact in Nairobi was Charles, in Nanyuki it was Daniel.
Mt Kenya team:
Sam - guide
Chef - Patrick
Douglas and Simon - Porters
Tips would be to take or request portions of your own food like instant noodles if you aren’t accustomed to Kenyan cuisine.
Mt Kenya via Simirion route up and Chogoria down was great. However summit day has a lottttttt of downhill.
Chorgoria was so beautiful but we were too exhausted to take photos!
