Nairobi-Maasai Mara
Maasai Mara National Reserve - At 7 AM, you will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel and begin the drive to Maasai Mara via the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Rift Valley floor. Arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, after checking in, depart for a game viewing drive in the Mara Reserve. Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner at Mara Maisha Camp. The Masai Mara Reserve is Kenya’s most popular tourism destination, located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland. Wildlife is most concentrated on the reserve’s western escarpment. It’s considered the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. Visitors are almost guaranteed to spot the Big Five. The phenomenal wildebeest migration, a spectacular event only seen in Masai Mara, is the 8th wonder of the world.
Maasai Mara Full Day
Mara River - Spend the entire day exploring Masai Mara in search of the Big Five. Enjoy picnic lunches during the game drives. There are many resident hippos and crocodiles along the banks of the Mara River. Optional: In the evening, visit the local Masai village for a Masai cultural tour at USD 20. Learn about the Masai community and interact with the local Masai people. An overnight stay at the Masai village can be arranged upon request. A balloon safari can be organized early morning on this day, then proceed with the normal program. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great migration. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following them are the predators of the savanna – lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures. Overnight at Mara Maisha Camp/Zebra Plains.
Maasai Mara-Lake Nakuru Park
Lake Nakuru - Enjoy an early breakfast followed by the last early morning game drive in Mara Reserve on your way out of Maasai Mara. Then, begin the drive to Nakuru. Overnight stay at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge.
Full Day Lake Nakuru Park
Lake Nakuru - Delight in this birdlife sanctuary with its 450 species of birds, experiencing great sightings of the endangered white rhinos. Black rhinos can also be seen. The park is a perfect habitat of yellow acacia and giant Euphorbia trees. Of great interest is the rare and endangered Rothschild giraffe, naturalized in this park after being relocated from the soy plains of Eldoret in 1974. The greatest attraction, flamingos, form a flamboyance of pink color on the lake’s edges. The abundance of blue-green algae naturally present in the lake forms the primary food source for the flamingos. Visitors can also enjoy the panoramic view of the lake from the Baboon Cliff, the highest point in the park. Other animals to be seen include large herds of buffaloes, Defassa waterbuck, impalas, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles, lions, baboons, cheetahs, elands, leopards, spotted hyenas, black and white colobus monkeys, common zebras, genets, etc. Game viewing is relatively easy.
Makalia Falls Viewpoint - These waterfalls within the park are part of the ecosystem, with the river feeding into Lake Naivasha. We will stop here for photos.
Nakuru-Amboseli
Amboseli National Park - After a delicious breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park, famous for its scenery with a backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, which dominates the landscape and open plains. Arrive in time for lunch, check in at Ol Tukai Lodge Amboseli, have lunch, and enjoy a short rest. Experience a sunset game drive in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their counterparts like the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and hippo, with a view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.
Full Day Amboseli Park
Observation Hill - Enjoy an early morning game drive, then return to the lodge for breakfast. Amboseli is famous for its elephant herds, which include huge, tusked bulls, making the park a favorite destination for photographers and filmmakers due to its stunning backdrop dominated by acacia woodlands. A unique feature of Amboseli is the large herds of elephants strolling through the grasslands with Mt. Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak in the background. Among the Big Five and other wildlife are Maasai giraffes, various antelopes, gazelles, spotted and striped hyenas, cheetahs, and lesser kudus. From Observation Hill, you will have a view of the entire park, especially the large swamps hosting many elephants, buffaloes, and hippos. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded in this park. On request and at an extra charge, a sundowner can be arranged to enjoy the African sunset. Overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge Amboseli.
Amboseli-Nairobi
Nairobi - After an early breakfast, check out and enjoy a short morning game drive en route out of Amboseli, then drive to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport. Additionally, arrangements can be made to continue with a train journey to a beach holiday at the Kenyan coast, Mombasa/Diani Beach, from Emali town.
