Nairobi City - Maasai Mara National Reserve
Nairobi - Guests will be collected from the airport or their hotel and provided with a pre-departure briefing before embarking on their safari adventure. The journey takes you through the scenic viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley escarpment to Narok County, the land of the Maa people. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is part of the expansive Serengeti plains, renowned for the magnificent wildebeest migration and home to the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino. The intercounty borders separate these two great national parks. Arrive for lunch at the lodge/camp and unwind before setting off for an afternoon game drive.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara National Reserve - On the second day, guests will rise and enjoy a prepared breakfast. A full-day game drive in the reserve awaits, complete with a picnic lunch. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a protected savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya, near the Tanzanian border. The Mara Triangle, bordering the Mara River with its lush grasslands and acacia woodlands, is ideal for game drives. The Mara is famed for the Great Migration, occurring annually. During these months, the yellow savannah is speckled with over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes migrating from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of sustenance.
Maasai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park
Maasai Mara National Reserve - After a restful sleep, guests will wake for breakfast before departing to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s finest parks, featuring one of the Rift Valley’s soda lakes. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed and shown to their rooms. After lunch, a game drive in Lake Nakuru Park is planned, known as a bird lover’s paradise due to the numerous bird species residing there. Lake Nakuru Park is home to over 400 bird species, including flamingos that inhabit the lake and the park’s savannah grasslands. Bird species include the African Fish Eagle, Slender-billed Greenbul, Long-tailed Widowbird, Rufous-throated Wryneck, Montane White-eye, Red-capped Lark, Northern Puffback, Rüppell’s Robin-chat, Shining Sunbird, and many more.
Lake Nakuru National Park – Jinja (the Source of River Nile)
Jinja - Today, the journey continues to Jinja. After breakfast at the hotel, guests will leave Nakuru for Jinja, crossing the Malaba border. The route passes by the source of the Nile River, the world’s longest river, which begins its journey here before traversing ten African countries and emptying into the Mediterranean Sea. Jinja town is known as the adventure capital of East Africa, offering a variety of adventure sports and activities, including white water rafting, bungee jumping, and kayaking. Guests are encouraged to enjoy a boat ride for an additional fee, experiencing a dream ride on Africa’s longest river.
Jinja Town – Kabale - Lake Bunyonyi Uganda
Lake Victoria - Guests will wake up to a different climate zone and enjoy breakfast before driving to Kabale, Uganda’s highest town (2000m), witnessing stunning, lush scenery en route. Camping will be at Lake Bunyonyi, Africa’s deepest crater lake (900m). Bunyonyi means “place of the little birds,” offering opportunities to observe unique birdlife. Enjoy a scenic drive over the mountains to the base in Kisoro, located on Uganda’s southwestern tip. Guests will have a relaxing evening in preparation for the upcoming trek, making it an excellent place to rest before the gorilla trek.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park - Today, guests embark on a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Trek through the early morning mist in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, home to about half of the world’s 700 remaining mountain gorillas. The trek can be challenging and may last a full day, so a water bottle and sturdy walking shoes or boots are highly recommended. Experienced local guides will lead guests through the dense mountain jungle. Once the gorillas are located, guests will observe them for about an hour (this time is strictly regulated by the Uganda Wildlife Authority). Photography is allowed, but without flash (there are also restrictions on video camera use). Whether with or without a camera, this is one of Africa’s most breathtaking and emotional experiences, sure to leave a lasting impression.
Bunyonyi Uganda – Kabale – Jinja Town
Jinja - Guests will wake up in the morning and enjoy breakfast before driving to Jinja Town. Today, there is ample time for additional activities at an extra cost. In Jinja Town, guests can enjoy water tubing on the White Nile River, offering exhilarating Whitewater Tubing, Flat Water Tubing, Extreme Tubing, Whitewater Rafting, Bungee Jumping, Quad Biking, Kayaking, Horse Riding, Bike Riding, Boat Cruises, and more. These activities promise fun and memorable adventures for those interested. Guests can take a guided walk around the town and later return for an overnight stay.
Jinja Town, Uganda - Lake Naivasha National Park
Lake Naivasha - After breakfast, guests will head north, passing through Naivasha town and driving around the southern end of the lake, past the flower farms to the entrance of Hell’s Gate National Park. Upon entering the park, the impressive landscape unfolds, revealing a semi-arid world with rugged cliffs, open plains, and deep concealed gorges. An afternoon boat ride at an additional cost among hippo colonies offers an ideal view over Lake Naivasha. Numerous activities are available in Hell’s Gate, including walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching, and trekking through the gorge among the geysers, allowing guests to choose their preferred adventure.
Lake Naivasha National Park - Nairobi City (JKIA)
Nairobi - Guests will wake up in the morning, with breakfast served at 7:30 am, and will be picked up by their driver/guide at 8:30 am. Conclude the visit to Lake Naivasha National Park with an early drive back to Nairobi, marking the end of the tour.
