Nairobi - Upon arriving at the airport after a long flight, the team will warmly welcome you and provide transportation to your city hotel, either the Boma Luxury Nairobi or a similar establishment. They will outline the next steps and address any questions regarding your upcoming safari, which begins the following day. Your stay is arranged on a bed-and-breakfast basis, ideal for evening arrivals in Nairobi. For early arrivals, you can unwind at the hotel or explore city attractions such as the Nairobi city tour, the giraffe center (feeding the Rothschild giraffes), the elephant orphanage, or the Karen Blixen Museum, before returning to the hotel in the late evening. It is recommended for those flying long distances to Nairobi to arrive a day earlier to better acclimate and minimize jet lag, ensuring a more enjoyable and productive stay.
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park 200KM 4-5Hrs
Amboseli National Park - A company representative will pick you up from your hotel this morning. After a brief safari overview, you will meet your experienced driver-guide for a scenic drive southeast to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive, exploring the park’s acacia woodlands, freshwater swamps, scrub brush, and open plains in search of wildlife. Return at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay. Amboseli National Park, spanning 392 square kilometers, is famous for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world at 5,895 meters. The park is also known as an elephant’s paradise, where the massive African savannah elephants roam from swamp to swamp, grazing throughout the day. Due to the abundance of water and pasture, you may also spot cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, gnus, gazelles, hippos, and many other animals during your visit.
Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park - After breakfast, you will leave the camp with a packed lunch to enjoy in the wild. Spend the day exploring the marshlands and swamps of Amboseli, nourished by subterranean water channels. Water is plentiful year-round, providing ample pasture for various herbivores, including elephants. After a long day of exploration in this 392 sq km area, return to the lodge late in the afternoon. There is also the option to start your day with an early morning game drive to search for animals when they are most active. Afterward, return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and lunch, depending on your lodge’s location. During the hottest part of the day, relax in the camp, read a book, or listen to music while observing the birds. Later, head out again at 4:00 PM for another drive through the park. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Amboseli to Lake Manyara National Park 320KM 5-6Hrs
Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast, prepare for a long but scenic and exciting drive. Head towards the border separating Kenya and Tanzania (Namanga border post). Prepare to pay for your visa, which costs $50-$100 depending on your nationality (visa cards NOT accepted). After clearing the border immigration process, transfer vehicles and join your Tanzanian driver/guide, who will welcome you and proceed further with your journey, stopping for lunch in Arusha. After lunch, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the day-to-day activities of the locals around this small but busy tourist transit town before proceeding further east, arriving in Lake Manyara in good time (mid-afternoon). Enjoy a free afternoon to enjoy the lodge facilities like swimming and bird watching, or relax by the poolside, reading a book or writing in your journal in preparation for a busy day tomorrow.
Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater 80KM 2-3Hrs
Ngorongoro Crater - After a leisurely breakfast, pack your bags and drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a morning game drive. During this time, seek out active wildlife such as baboons and dik-diks, which forage for food beneath acacia trees. You may also encounter large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, and zebras grazing on the sun-drenched plains. In the acacia woodland, keep an eye out for the region’s famous tree-climbing lions. For lunch, enjoy a fresh African buffet prepared from local farm produce at a nearby homestead. Following lunch, visit a local village where you can either ride on a tuk-tuk or walk through rice fields, observing the local community along the way. You will also have the chance to sample a local banana beer during your village walk. After your village experience, make your way to Ngorongoro Crater, ascending the outer wall through dense vegetation. Arrive at your hotel on the rim of the caldera in time for dinner and an overnight stay.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - This morning, descend into the crater, arriving ahead of most visitors — thanks to the ideal location of your accommodations on the crater’s rim — for a half-day crater tour. There are only two roads that connect the crater rim with the crater floor, one for driving down and one for driving up. The crater is roughly 20 km/12 miles wide and 600 m/2,000 ft deep. Once you’ve reached the top of the caldera, it takes about 45 minutes to descend to the crater floor. The floor is home to a rich and highly concentrated wildlife. Some 20,000 mammals of size live there, including about 20 black rhinos, making the crater the best place in Tanzania to see the rhino. The animals here are less wary of humans and vehicles, making it easier to watch them up close as they roam the lakes, rivers, and hills. Later, ascend and return to your lodge at the rim for dinner and an overnight stay.
Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park 80KM 2-3Hrs
Serengeti National Park - This morning, after breakfast, drive to the expansive and wildlife-rich Serengeti National Park, navigating through its stunning combination of savanna grasslands and volcanic hills. Along the way, stop for a privately guided tour of Olduvai Gorge, a significant site for prehuman hominid fossils. Renowned paleontologists Mary and Louis Leakey made many important discoveries here, including the remains of the “Nutcracker Man,” who lived approximately 1.75 million years ago. Visit the on-site museum, take in the views from the lookout point, and observe the excavations that revealed 3.7-million-year-old footprints and the 1.8-million-year-old skull of a human ancestor. Following this fascinating visit, continue to your lodge, which offers stunning views of the land inhabited by lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, giraffes, and many more.
