Nairobi - JAMBO! Upon arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, a Classic Journeys Africa Customer Care Representative will warmly welcome you and assist with your hotel transfer. Before checking in, you will receive a briefing on your upcoming itinerary and meet the Driver Guide who will accompany you throughout the safari.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta Conservancy - After breakfast, your driver will collect you from the hotel and drive north towards the Mount Kenya region. Spend the afternoon visiting rescued chimpanzees at Sweetwaters Game Ranch. Located within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters offers rescued chimps a second chance at a normal life and is Kenya’s only sanctuary for chimpanzee rehabilitation.

With nearly 40 chimps, Sweetwaters provides an environment closely resembling their natural habitat. The chimps are divided into two groups by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The conservancy is also a dedicated black rhino breeding area, making it an unforgettable stop. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a tented camp.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park - This morning, depart Sweetwaters after breakfast and head to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive at a camp in time for lunch, and after a refreshing break, embark on an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru, a soda lake on the Great Rift Valley floor, is rich in birdlife and home to over 400 species.

The sight of millions of flamingos making the lake appear ringed in pink is breathtaking. Besides the abundant birdlife, it is a crucial sanctuary for the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe and both black and white rhinos. Lake Nakuru is teeming with wildlife, offering you and your family the chance to spot lions, waterbuck, buffalo, baboons, and more. The park boasts a vast array of animals.

Lake Naivasha National Park

Crescent Island Game Park - Today, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before driving to Lake Naivasha. Experience a wonderful boat ride at Crescent Island, offering a unique perspective on game viewing. Later, return to your resort for relaxation and personal leisure.

Masai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve - After breakfast and a short briefing by your driver guide, travel to the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, the backdrop to ‘the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth,’ the annual migration of over one million wildebeest. Arrive in time for lunch at your camp.

Maasai Mara National Reserve - Spend your day on safari in Africa’s richest wildlife viewing arena. Historically abundant with wildlife, the Mara hosts Kenya’s largest lion prides and elephant herds. Other predators include leopards, cheetahs, and spotted hyenas; while in the Mara River, you will see large pods of hippos and vast Nile crocodiles. Other highlights include giraffes, gazelles, zebras, buffalo, and over 550 bird species.

For an additional fee, visit the Masai local villages. The Maasai have lived on these plains for centuries, and your guide will share his knowledge and expertise with you. Learn about the region’s flora and fauna and how the Maasai people utilize the plants. Your guide will reveal the hidden secrets of the African savannah, such as finding medicine in the bush and tracking wildlife and birds.
After this informative and fascinating excursion, visit the Maasai manyattas. At this local village, a Maasai guide will provide an intriguing account of the Maasai people and their ancient traditions. You will have the opportunity to witness firsthand an ancient way of life that still thrives on the Mara plains today. Finally, participate in some traditional Masai dance. As the sun sets on a fulfilling day, return to your scenic tented camp for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay surrounded by nature.

Nairobi - Departure

Nairobi - After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you embark on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot, and lakes Elementaita and Naivasha along the way. Keep an eye out for herds of giraffes and gazelles as you ascend the escarpment. Arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city, Nairobi, in the late afternoon.
Spend time doing last-minute shopping and later enjoy dinner at the lively Carnivore Restaurant, where you can savor a variety of delicious meats.
Drop off at the airport and bid farewell to your driver guide until next time.
