• Karen Blixen Museum - Constructed in 1912 by Swedish Engineer Ake Sjogren, this building was once part of a farm at the base of the Ngong Hills, owned by Danish author Karen Blixen and her Swedish husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. Situated 10km from the city center, the farmhouse gained international recognition with the release of the Oscar-winning film ‘Out of Africa,’ based on Karen’s autobiography of the same name. This location, where the renowned Danish author lived from 1917 to 1931, is now a museum. Much of the 1985 Oscar-winning film adaptation was filmed on these grounds. Touring the house offers an intimate experience; in one corner, a lantern that Blixen hung on her veranda signals her presence to her ill-fated lover, English hunter Denys Finch Hatton, and his monogrammed books still adorn the shelves.
