• Karen Blixen Museum - Embark on a day tour of the Karen Blixen Museum to explore Kenya’s colonial history and the life of the celebrated Danish author Karen Blixen, famed for her memoir “Out of Africa.” Located in the tranquil suburb of Karen, about 10 kilometers from Nairobi’s city center, the museum is housed in the former farmhouse where Blixen lived from 1914 to 1931. Constructed in 1910, the house retains its original furnishings, a restored kitchen with period utensils, and artifacts from Blixen’s coffee farming era. Guided tours offer engaging stories about her life, the obstacles she overcame, and her relationships with the local Kikuyu community. Although the 1985 film adaptation of her memoir, “Out of Africa,” was not filmed here, the museum’s atmosphere and displays provide a genuine connection to that time.
