Only recommend for serious trekkers! - It isn't like a safari in the plains of Masai Mara. Aberdare is a world of its own. A dense forest with thick vegetation, gorgeous waterfalls and beautiful wildlife. However, it isn't for a casual visitor-its for the trekker who finds beauty in effort and patience. Here's what you know if you are planning a trip here. 1. Stay overnight! I took a day-trip and it was exhausting driving around for 13 hours. I felt like I paid all that money only for driving around, which I know is true considering the price of fuel. 2. The animals are shy and and vanish into the trees before you can blink. After a few failed attempts, I had to put my lens away 3. By the time I reached the top of the Karura Waterfalls, it was raining and foggy. My driver suggested waiting for 30 minutes and if we were lucky perhaps the fog would clear out. While it was good advice, but with no phone connectivity or even radio contact with the guards at the national park gate, I chose to move on. The driver and the vehicle was good. However, my guide was, okay.
