Day 1 – Nairobi to Samburu

Day 1 – Nairobi to Samburu
Upon arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the team will warmly welcome you. After completing arrival formalities, you will be driven to Samburu, passing through picturesque farmlands as you head north towards the semi-arid region inhabited by the vibrant Samburu tribesmen. You will reach the lodge in time for a late lunch and some relaxation, followed by an afternoon of game viewing. Samburu is home to unique wildlife such as the rare Grant’s gazelle, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, and other rare flora. Additional activities include guided bush walks, camel rides, bush sundowners, cultural visits, and walks to nearby Samburu villages. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Samburu Sopa Lodge (Full board).
Samburu Sopa Lodge is beautifully situated within the Samburu National Reserve, offering panoramic views of distant rolling hills on one side and Mt. Kenya on the other. It is the only lodge in Samburu with a waterhole, allowing guests to relax in the lobby or on their bedroom veranda and watch various animals come to drink after a day of game drives. Day 2 – Samburu Game Drives
Experience a full day of game drives in Samburu Park with your knowledgeable tour driver. Begin the day with an early breakfast, then take picnic lunch boxes as you embark on a rewarding morning game drive. Enjoy uninterrupted photography sessions, stopping frequently to observe and capture animals in their natural habitat. Pause for a picnic lunch at a tranquil spot before continuing with the afternoon’s activities. Return to your lodge in the evening for a relaxing bath before dinner. Day 3 – Samburu to Mount Kenya
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to the serene wilderness of Mt. Kenya National Park, enjoying the beautiful scenery and views of Kenya’s tallest mountain along the way. Arrive at the lodge for check-in and relaxation on your room’s balcony while waiting for lunch. After lunch, choose between a game drive or spending the afternoon at leisure, watching animals from your balcony, which overlooks a floodlit waterhole that attracts wildlife day and night. Dinner and overnight at Serena Mountain Lodge (Full board).
Serena Mountain Lodge, a timbered tree hotel, is nestled amid the ancient forests on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya, offering a peaceful retreat with sweeping views across the tree canopy. The open-air viewing deck overlooks the hotel’s waterhole and salt lick, attracting numerous herds of elephants and buffalo.
Day 4 – Mount Kenya to Aberdare National Park
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and enjoy a leisurely drive to the scenic Aberdare Ranges, known for its majestic waterfalls, rich birdlife, and forested areas. Upon arrival, proceed to the lodge for check-in and lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive inside the park to explore the forests, riverine vegetation, and waterfalls. Aberdare is home to diverse wildlife, birds, primates, and insects. Optional activities available at an extra cost include trout fishing, horse riding, and guided nature walks. Alternatively, relax on your room’s balcony and watch animals visit the waterhole. Dinner and overnight at Ark Lodge (Full board).
The Ark Lodge is located in the heart of Aberdare National Park, overlooking a floodlit waterhole and salt lick that attracts a variety of wildlife. Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark features three decks with numerous balconies and lounges offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. To ensure you don’t miss any animal sightings, the night guard will alert you when special animals visit the waterhole. The Ark has four viewing areas for observing the constant animal activity, including a ground-level bunker, perfect for photographers to capture images of animals at the salt lick from a safe distance.
Day 5 – Aberdare to Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, check out from the lodge and depart for Lake Nakuru, arriving in the afternoon. Enjoy a short game drive en route to the lodge for check-in and lunch. After lunch, partake in early evening game viewing within the scenic park. Easily spotted animals and birds include flamingos, pelicans, storks, white rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, and more. Visit the scenic observation hill or baboon cliff for a panoramic view of the lake. After the game drives, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Lake Nakuru Lodge (Full board).
Lake Nakuru Lodge is a stunning eco-lodge located within Lake Nakuru National Park, offering unobstructed views of the lake and wildlife. It provides accommodations with free WiFi, a seating area, and a flat-screen TV. Each unit includes a private bathroom with a bath and complimentary toiletries, along with a hairdryer. A buffet breakfast is served each morning, and the in-house restaurant offers a variety of Indian, African, and American dishes, including dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian options. The lodge features an outdoor pool, and guests can also unwind in the garden.
Day 6 – Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and enjoy a final morning game drive in the park to spot early risers. Then, exit the park and drive to Masai Mara, arriving for a hot lunch in Narok Town. Afterward, enter the park for a rewarding evening game drive. Masai Mara is a recommended year-round destination for wildlife viewing. After the game drive, transfer to your lodge for check-in and rest at Mara Sopa Lodge (Full board).
Mara Sopa Lodge is situated high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The lodge features lush, mature gardens and trees. All buildings are designed in the style of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, stretching along the hills with the large public area buildings and swimming pool at their center.
Day 7 – Masai Mara Game Drives
After breakfast, spend the day enjoying uninterrupted and unlimited game drives, exploring the magnificent and expansive Mara Reserve, searching for wildlife, and taking photographs. The driver will proceed at a leisurely pace, stopping often to allow you to observe animals, take pictures, and enjoy bird watching. Carry packed picnic lunch boxes to maximize your time in the park. You will also see the large Nile crocodile at the Mara River and large pods of hippos at the hippo pool during your picnic lunch. If fortunate, you may witness a hunt near the river or on the vast plains. In the evening, return to your accommodation for dinner and rest at Mara Sopa Lodge (Full board).
Day 8 – Masai Mara to Nairobi
After an early breakfast, check out of the lodge with a picnic lunch for a final morning game drive to experience the park at its most active. After the game drives, depart the park and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening for a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Airport to connect with your outbound flight. Dinner can be arranged upon request at a preferred restaurant in the city.
