Nairobi - Samburu
Samburu National Reserve - Guests will be picked up from their Nairobi hotel at 0700 hours and travel north by road, crossing the equator from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere to reach Samburu Game Reserve, a semi-arid area perfect for photographers. Arrival at the camp is scheduled for lunchtime, followed by leisure time for a siesta or swim before departing around 16:00 hours for an afternoon game viewing, returning to the camp before sunset.
The name Samburu originates from the Masai word ‘Samburr,’ which refers to a traditional leather bag used for carrying honey and milk. The region is known for its expansive, open landscapes, seasonal dried riverbeds, and red volcanic soil. Rock formations contrast with the dense woodland vegetation along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro, meaning ‘River of brown water,’ which sustains the reserve.
Samburu Full Day
Samburu National Reserve - Spend a full day in the Samburu Game Reserve searching for the Big Five, the Samburu Five, and enjoying the vast, untouched scenery during morning and afternoon game drives. Observe crocodiles basking on muddy riverbanks and velvet monkeys playing in the late afternoon sun.
Additionally, there is an opportunity to engage with the Samburu People and learn about their culture.
These five unique animals are typically found only north of the equator: the long-necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe with its liver-colored geometric patches outlined by narrow white lines, the Grevy’s zebra, which is smaller than the common zebra and resembles a horse, the beisa oryx with a black horizontal stripe along its lower flank, and the Somali ostrich males with blue-grey necks and thighs.

The initial sight of this Game Park is awe-inspiring. There is no other place on earth that compares to this wildlife wonder. The combination of a mild climate, scenic beauty, and countless wildlife makes the Masai Mara National Reserve Kenya’s most popular inland destination.
Full Day Masai Mara
Mara River - After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch at the Mara River.
Throughout the vast Masai Mara, guests will encounter abundant wildlife, including Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeests. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also present in large numbers.
The highlight here is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration, the Great Migration, occurring in July and August when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of greener pastures before heading south again from October to December.
