Impressive - We had no prior experience with cenote diving. We were lucky to have a great guide (Marco). You are not allowed to dive freely in the cenotes. You have to go with a certified cave guide, which is completely understandable. I strongly advise to do this dive only when you are an experienced diver and have excellent buoyancy control. It is a must, or you will ruin the dive for anyone else. The sediment stirs easily and it is crucial to stay clear of the bottom with your fins. There will be some narrow spaces or passages. Therefore, having good trim is crucial. Also, don't do it if you are claustrophobic. We loved these dives! It was like we were on another planet. The pit and Nicte-Ha are completely different but they each have a unique charm and beauty. It was incredibly beautiful.
