- Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - The mosque welcomes visitors from Saturday to Thursday, between 8:00 – 11:00 a.m., and remains closed on Fridays. Visitors can marvel at the world’s second-largest handmade carpet and the renowned chandelier in the main prayer hall. Opened in 2001, this magnificent marble mosque is among the largest in the Gulf, with a capacity for 20,000 worshipers. Constructed from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone, the main musalla or prayer hall is a square measuring 74.4 by 74.4 meters (244 by 244 feet), with a central dome reaching 50 meters (160 ft) above the floor.
Dress code: Visitors must dress modestly, covering their entire arms and legs, and avoid wearing tight clothing. Women and girls aged seven and above are required to cover their hair.
