- Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - Departing in the morning from Muscat, the journey will lead to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, constructed from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone. The main prayer hall, or musalla, is a square measuring 74.4 by 74.4 meters (244 by 244 feet) with a central dome reaching a height of 50 meters (160 feet) above the floor. The dome, along with the main minaret (90 meters or 300 feet) and four surrounding minarets (45.5 meters or 149 feet), are the mosque’s primary visual highlights. The main musalla can accommodate over 6,500 worshippers, while the women’s musalla can hold 750 worshippers. The outer paved area can host 8,000 worshippers, with additional space available in the interior courtyard and passageways, allowing for a total capacity of up to 20,000 worshippers.
The mosque is situated on a site covering 416,000 m² (4,480,000 sq ft), and the complex itself spans an area of 40,000 m² (430,000 sq ft). The newly constructed Grand Mosque was inaugurated by the Sultan of Oman on May 4, 2001, to commemorate 30 years of his reign.
- Nakhal Fort - Next, the journey turns inland to the renowned Nakhal fortress. Nestled at the base of the mountains in a charming small village known for its extensive date palm plantations, this impressive 350-year-old fortress emerges from the mountain rock, towering above the ancient village as if still warning potential attackers of its formidable strength. It has witnessed numerous battles and is filled with hidden escape routes and secret passages. Visitors can explore the interior of this restored fortress and visit all the rooms, which have been beautifully decorated in the original old style. The view from the top of the fortress over the mountains and lush date plantations is breathtaking.

Nakhl - Nakhal Hot Spring
After visiting the fortress, the journey continues through the old Village of Nakhal to the hot springs. Here, a picturesque small green Wadi can be found. The small river in the Wadi contains hot spring water, perfect for soaking your feet. Many locals visit this spot to enjoy a walk in the warm river water. - Wakan Village - Then, located 2,000 meters above sea level in the Western Hajar Mountains, is Wakan village, a quaint mountain village with stunning terraced gardens overlooking the surrounding mountains above and Wadi Mistal below. Wakan village is officially part of Wilayt Nakhal in the South Batinah Governorate, although it is situated right on the border with Al Dakhiliyah Governorate through the Al Hajar mountain range.
