DESERT CROSSING – KHALUF
Al Khaluf - Today, embark on a desert crossing with stops for photos. You’ll have the opportunity to meet various Bedouin tribes and engage in conversations. Tonight’s accommodation will be in a tent at Khaluf Beach. Al Khaluf is a fishing village located at the northern end of the stretch. Visit the village and connect with the angler community by the beach.
The following day, after breakfast, continue the desert crossing with approximately 5 hours of driving southeast towards Muhut, a state in Oman’s central region overlooking the Arabian Sea. Historically, it was a significant port known for shipbuilding and transporting passengers and goods from Oman to East Africa, India, and other parts of the African continent, carrying Omani products and returning with goods not available in Oman at that time.
From there, continue the journey towards Khaluf Beach, one of Oman’s most beautiful beaches, featuring exciting and calming white sugar dunes, rocky outcroppings, and tranquil fishing villages. The area’s isolation makes it special, as it is far from Muscat and receives few visitors.
KHALUF – RAS AL RWAYS – RAS AL HADD
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve - In the morning, depart from the camping site and drive to Al Khaluf Village, stopping at the fish market where locals sell a large variety of fresh fish and seafood. From Ras Ar Rways, drive along the coastline, passing many sea villages, with Al Askharah being the largest and most beautiful fishing village, reliant on fishing. Visit Al Ashkharah port to witness fishermen returning from the sea with abundant fish and seafood.
The tour continues to Ras al Hadd. In the evening, after a buffet dinner at Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, enjoy a guided night walk on the beach under the stars, with a high chance of witnessing Oman’s great sea turtles coming ashore to nest and lay eggs. If fortunate, you may even see baby turtles hatching from some nests.
RAS AL JINZ – MUSCAT
Wadi Shab - In the morning, Said will guide you through the City of Sur, visiting the renowned Omani Dhow Factory, where traditional wooden Dhows are crafted. Explore the old part of Sur, where many houses feature wooden doors and windows. From Sur, drive to Wadi Shab. After a 45-minute hike through the canyon, reach one of several clear water pools. Visitors can swim through the warm waters from pool to pool, eventually reaching the last pool where an opening among the large rocks allows swimming into a stunning crevice cave with a small waterfall. Inside, sunlight filters in, turning the water a beautiful turquoise blue, while water cascades down one side of the cave from the Wadi beyond. After visiting Wadi Shab, stop at Bimah Sinkhole, where swimming is possible.
Later in the afternoon, drive back to Muscat.
