journey through food into the layers of the culture - Our guide Diana was amazing and the tour itself provided not only a delicious experience but such an insight to the culture and the city that I wished we had done it as the first thing after we arrived. As always culinary backstreets experience provided a revealing journey through food into the multilayers of the culture. and as always with an expert guide who takes through this journey in an elegant way

Culinary Backstreets tour of Kichijoji, Tokyo, was fantastic! - The Culinary Backstreets Tour of Kichijoji was fantastic. I went with my 28 year old daughter and we both loved it. Our guide, Diana, was so warm, friendly, and informative. Diana had such a lovely rapport with each of the owners of the wonderful shops we stopped at, and was a font of information about life in Tokyo in general, and the Kichijoji neighborhood in particular. Diana was completely bilingual. She is Japanese American, and has been living in Tokyo for 11 years. We had a small group of four, which made it that much more personal and special. We enjoyed meeting the other young couple on our tour. We had all heard about this tour from friends who had done it when they were in Tokyo. They recommended it to us, and we are recommending it to you - well worth every penny! What a great way to spend a day in this special neighborhood, get a glimpse of the Japanese way of life, which Diana was well versed in, and try numerous delicacies, WOW! The time flew! At the conclusion of the tour, the other couple left for a baseball game and Diana honored my daughter’s request, leading us to a shop specializing in antique ceramics that Samurai once ate and drank from. It was a very special day!

Locals Japanese food tour - Wonderful experience and will be a great memory for our family. The tour showed us many different facets of Japanese cuisine (even puffer fish) in the right amount of portions. We fell in love with the city. Thanks to our wonderful tour guide Ken! He was accommodating to all of our family’s different food tastes and minor allergies. We loved meeting the shop owners and the close knit feel of the tour. Thank you for the great food adventure which we not have been possible on our own.

Great experience! - My family and I had a wonderful experience on this tour. Ken — our guide — was extremely knowledgeable and the clearly had great familiarity with all the venues we visited. While more expensive than other tours were have been on elsewhere, the value was there. The stops were all high end, and Ken went out of good way to accommodate a member of our group who was very picky, which was much appreciated. Drinks were included and there was no shortage of anything. Definitely a highlight of our time in Tokyo which also gave us exposure to a party of city we would not have seen otherwise. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic exploration of Japanese food in a great neighborhood - This was the second culinary back streets tour we've done and, like the first, it was fantastic. Ken was an exceptional and highly informative tour guide who clearly had a great relationship with the many, varied and excellent establishments we visited. While the tour might seem expensive I think they are actually very good value given the duration, the expertise of the guide and the amount of food and drink you get. Absolutely wholeheartedly recommend.
