- Jigokudani (Hell Valley) - Jigokudani, or “Hell Valley,” is a stunningly named valley located just above the town of Noboribetsu Onsen. It features hot steam vents, sulfurous streams, and other volcanic activities. It is a primary source of Noboribetsu’s hot spring waters.
Beautiful walking trails wind through the wooded hills above Noboribetsu. Following these trails for about 20 to 30 minutes leads to Oyunuma, a sulfurous pond with a surface temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, and a smaller, even hotter, mud pond nearby.
The best season to visit Noboribetsu is autumn, offering breathtaking scenery.
- Noboribetsu - This is the highlight of the tour, where visitors can enjoy hot springs. There are about 35 types of baths available. The sulfur spring has strong acidity with a hydrogen ion concentration of 2.4, providing a potent bactericidal effect against various bacteria, and the sulfur content is beneficial for skin conditions. Glauber’s salt spring, known since ancient times as a “bath for wounds” and “bath for palsy,” has a hydrogen ion concentration of 2.2, making it the most acidic hot spring available.
- Noboribetsu Date Jidai Village - After enjoying the hot springs in Noboribetsu, visit this facility by vehicle. Choose from chicken, seafood, and three types of meats for lunch.
After lunch, try the Kokeshi doll painting experience. If time permits, enjoy performances such as the Ninja show and Japanese Traditional Culture Theatre [Oiran Show], among others.
