- Theresienwiese - Following a timely pick-up from the address provided, the exclusive private tour will soon pass by the site where King Ludwig II’s grandfather, then Prince Ludwig I, celebrated his wedding over 200 years ago, now famously known as Oktoberfest! From November to July (and during pandemic times!), the vast area is mostly empty, featuring only the largest bronze statue since antiquity, the Bavaria, along with the 19th-century Hall of Fame behind it, creating a truly impressive ensemble.
- Starnberger See - 20 minutes later, the tour arrives at the stunning Lake Starnberg, also referred to as the “Dukes lake.” Magnificent villas line the lakeshore, including the summer residences of Sissi, the beautiful yet ill-fated Empress of Austria. Visit the spot in the lake where King Ludwig II mysteriously passed away on June 13, 1886. Discover the intriguing relationship between Ludwig and Sissi, and why he chose not to marry Sissi’s younger sister. The lake’s only island, “Roseninsel,” which was also royal property, served as a meeting place for Ludwig and Sissi on several occasions.
- Hohenschwangau - After another hour’s drive through the picturesque Bavarian countryside, the tour approaches the Alps and the towers of Neuschwanstein become visible at an altitude of about 1000m/3000ft. The charming village of Hohenschwangau, the starting point for both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, is soon reached. The guide will provide skip-the-line tickets for NEUSCHWANSTEIN castle and a detailed map of the surrounding area, along with tips on how to make the most of the visit (e.g., visiting the Queen Mary’s bridge viewpoint, using shuttle buses or horse-drawn carriages, and the best places to eat or shop). If visiting HOHENSCHWANGAU Castle is also desired (only possible with the 11-hour tour), information on purchasing skip-the-line tickets online will be provided immediately after booking.
- Schloss Neuschwanstein - SKIP-THE-LINE TICKETS INCLUDED! The renowned Fairytale Castle NEUSCHWANSTEIN is one of Germany’s most beloved landmarks. It enchants visitors worldwide with its enchanting beauty, inspired by characters from Wagner’s epic operas. Visitors can choose to walk up to the castle, take the shuttle bus (not available during snow and ice), or the horse-drawn carriage –> see “Additional Info” for details. The guided tour of Neuschwanstein castle lasts approximately 35 minutes, followed by a 15-minute self-guided walk through additional rooms. The guide will provide detailed information about these rooms.
- Marienbrücke - Queen Mary’s bridge (“Marienbrücke”) - THE TOP VIEWPOINT - constructed in 1866 by King Ludwig II - is one of the world’s most famous! It can be easily accessed by a shuttle bus (€ 4.00 p.p.) from the parking lot or via a pleasant 40-minute uphill hike. From the bridge, the castle entrance is a 20-minute downhill walk, passing another magnificent viewpoint! PLEASE NOTE: For departures after 8 a.m., there may be waiting times for both the shuttle bus and bridge access! However, another spectacular viewpoint without waiting is nearby. In snow and ice, both viewpoints are inaccessible, and Neuschwanstein Castle can only be reached on foot or by horse-drawn hybrid carriage.
- Pöllat Waterfall - Enjoy views of the stunning Pöllat waterfall from the Neuschwanstein Castle Courtyard and the Marienbrücke “Queen Mary’s Bridge” viewpoint (waiting times are possible for departures after 8 a.m.; the bridge is closed in snow and ice). The Pöllat is a 10 km long wild river, originating near Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps.
- Schloss Hohenschwangau - (OPTIONAL - only available with the 11-hour tour “XXL Time Credit”) Equally worth visiting is Hohenschwangau castle, the neo-gothic summer residence of Ludwig II’s father, King Maximilian II, featuring Ludwig’s spectacular children’s room. Skip-the-line tickets for the 45-minute guided tour can also be booked - information on how to do this will be provided after booking. (Skip-the-line entrance fee (2025) € 23.50 per person 18 years or older, with discounts for children).
- Altstadt von Fuessen - (OPTIONAL - Füssen can only be visited if the 11-hour tour (“XXL-Time credit”) is booked - this will reduce time at other attractions by 25 minutes; or if the 9.5-hour tour is booked in exchange for another 25-minute attraction) *
The charming medieval town boasts a 2,000-year history. As the favored seat of the Habsburg Emperor Maximilian I, Füssen experienced its first golden age in the early 16th century; the ‘High Castle’ - one of Bavaria’s best-preserved medieval castles - was adorned in 1499 with rich architectural and illusion paintings. Be enchanted by the well-preserved city wall, crooked houses, and the Italian-style former monastery complex with its magnificent baroque church during a stroll through narrow streets. Enjoy refreshments at one of the many street cafés or explore the numerous shopping opportunities.
-
Mount Tegelberg - (OPTIONAL - If interested in this attraction, please note: 1) It is essential to inform us (e.g., when booking in the “Special Requirements” field) 2) This will reduce time for other sights by about 60 minutes, or some may need to be skipped. 3) For the bike tour, insurance is not provided by our company or the bike rental company) * Interested in more activities?

OR take a cable car ride on one of the Alpine peaks (from € 31.00 up and down). - Plansee - The tour briefly enters Austrian territory on the approximately 50-minute journey to Linderhof palace, offering a breathtaking drive along the mountain lake Plansee. Depending on traffic or - in winter - avalanche risks, a similarly scenic route on the Bavarian side may be taken.
- Schloss Linderhof - SKIP-THE-LINE TICKETS INCLUDED! Linderhof Palace, King Ludwig’s smallest yet most intimate palace, is nestled in a secluded Alpine valley with stunning French baroque design, spectacular Bavarian trick paintings, and the famous “Magic Table” (“Tischlein-deck-Dich”). Be enchanted by the baroque palace park, which transitions into a landscape park, where more fairytale buildings can be admired, such as the Venus Grotto, reopening in April 2025 after extensive renovations (€ 3.00 per adult extra, cash only; the Venus Grotto is accessible via a steep 0.3-mile path and is closed in winter).
- Oberammergau - Shortly after visiting Linderhof, the tour reaches the world-renowned Passion Play Village OBERAMMERGAU, where a 20-minute guided tour with the guide is recommended. Marvel at the murals (“Lüftlmalereien”) over 250 years old and the impressive Passion Play Theatre. Enjoy free time to explore the historic center, where shops offer a wide range of famous wood carvings, including nativity sets and other delightful Christmas items.
-
Alpine Coaster - (OPTIONAL - If interested in this attraction, please note: 1) Immediate notification is essential (e.g., when booking in the “Special Requirements” field)! 2) This will reduce time for other sights by about 45 minutes 3) The coaster cannot be reserved; to avoid waiting times, it must be visited first, placing Neuschwanstein Castle at the end of the tour. * A comfortable chairlift transports visitors through the magnificent alpine landscape to a cozy mountain restaurant and the start of the thrilling ALPINE COASTER at 1,270 m (4,170 ft) altitude: With the world’s longest weatherproof toboggan run featuring magnetic brakes, the valley can be reached over a length of 2,600 meters (1.6 miles) with breathtaking views and exciting curves. *
Open daily with suitable weather … Prices (2025): Adults: € 17.50/Children 8-15 years: € 12.00 * closed for approximately 3 weeks annually for inspection * - Ettal Abbey - For those interested in another baroque masterpiece of church decorations, set in a 12-wall domed medieval hall from the 14th century, the guide will lead a visit to the Ettal Benedictine monastery near a small pass, just a 5-minute drive from Oberammergau. In the monastery shop, the excellent home-brewed Ettal monastery beer or liqueur can be purchased.
- Pilgrimage Church of Wies - Another unforgettable stop is at one of the awe-inspiring baroque churches. The guide will provide all the essential information, for example, about the popular Wies-Church, or – equally recommended – one of the other churches along the way, which remain “secret tips,” quiet and peaceful, far from the tourist crowds. Please note: If the route over Lake Plansee to Linderhof palace or Oberammergau is taken, the Wieskirche cannot be visited, but an equally beautiful baroque church will be.

- Are you able to walk slightly uphill from the car park to Neuschwanstein castle - approx. 1,5 km/1 mile within 45 minutes? If not, we have to calculate additional (waiting-) time for the horse-hybrid carriage or the Shuttle bus (not operating during snow and ice) – Anyway, an approx. 450 meters/0.28 miles uphill walk (up to 15 % slope) or an approx. 500 meters/0.3 miles downhill walk (up to 19 % gradient) from the respective terminal to the entrance of the castle have to be managed in any case! We can accompany you so that you can reach your castle tour in time.
- In Neuschwanstein Castle itself, a total of 346 stairs (up and down) have to be mastered. If you have a corresponding medical certificate about walking disability or mobility restriction or similar –> please inform us IMMEDIATELY after your booking! <– we can request an exclusive LIFT SERVICE only for you with a maximum of one accompanying person, accompanied by the castle staff. The elevator service is at no extra cost, but (due to fire regulations) the number of tours with this service is very limited and must be reconfirmed by the castle authority.
- To Hohenschwangau castle there is a carriage service (not in winter season) almost from door-to-door. You have to climb stairs up to the 3rd floor and back (no elevator).
- In Linderhof castle you have to walk only approx. two times 10 minutes (relatively flat) and in the 30 minutes tour of the castle you have to climb stairs to the first floor.
- Each castle can be reached also with strollers, but they are not allowed during the tour of the interiors.
- If you want to reach Neuschwanstein castle by the “breathtaking” hike through the spectacular Gorge (approx. 45 to 60 minutes) on a well-developed path (not suitable for strollers, 1/4 of the distance are stairs), suitable footwear is required (for example hiking boots). In case of unsuitable weather or during maintenance work, the path through the gorge remains closed!
