In the evening, just a short distance from the lake, the Berchtesgaden salt mine awaits. In operation since 1517, visitors don traditional mining attire to embark on an exhilarating tour through the salt mountain, beginning with a ride on the mine train. Highlights include the miners’ slides, a raft journey across the underground “Mirror Lake,” and the Salt Cathedral.
