I was able to book a car in Phuket on board - We used it to travel from Phi Phi Island to Phuket. The sign on the pier wasn't clear, but at the end of the pier there was a reception desk where we showed the boarding reservation sheet and got tickets. The hotel staff carried my suitcase to the reception, so I boarded with it. There was a storage space at the tip of the ship for large luggage, and I left it there. Seats are unreserved, so if you go early you can choose any you want, but when we got on board there were already few empty seats, so we took a seat in the middle row. The ship stopped at sea near the island even after leaving, to take passengers from other ships a total of three times. The ship also ran leisurely rather than speeding, but while on board there was a car sale for post-arrival transport and we booked a taxi. When we arrived in Phuket, the previous salesman showed us the reservation and took us to the car. We had already paid on board, so it was a relief to get in the car. I was a female driver with children who knew the way around and quickly got through the loopholes at crowded intersections.

Bit of confusion - Once you book and arrive at the pier it is total chaos. I booked for a remote drop off, messages were sent back and forth with the address. Everything was confirmed. Once I was on the actual ferry I get a message to say, we don't deliver to your destination you will have to pay another 600 baht. I had no choice but to pay. I understand that it's a fair way but it should of been sorted on booking. It is actually much cheaper to turn up at the pier and buy a ticket to phuket then negotiate a ride on arrival.
