Mtskheta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Georgia’s oldest cities, with a history of continuous habitation spanning over 2,500 years. As the former capital of the early Kingdom of Iberia, it is of immense historical and spiritual importance.
The vehicle will be parked at the city’s entrance, allowing for a delightful stroll through Mtskheta’s historic streets. En route to the cathedral, visitors will encounter charming souvenir shops, traditional snack vendors, and local wine tasting venues.
The highlight of this walk is the visit to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, one of Georgia’s most sacred sites, believed to be the burial place of Christ’s robe.

Memorial History of Georgia - The next destination is the Chronicles of Georgia, a monumental stone structure often referred to as the “Georgian Stonehenge” or “Georgian History Memorial.” This monument, depicting scenes from Georgia’s 3,000-year history, was designed by Zurab Tsereteli and comprises 16 large columns, each approximately 35 meters tall.
The monument was constructed in 1985 during Georgia’s time as part of the Soviet Union. The upper sections of the 30-meter columns feature prominent kings, queens, and heroes of Georgia, offering a stunning panoramic view of Tbilisi Lake. - Old Town (Altstadt) Tbilisi - The tour will proceed to the historic part of Tbilisi, where the following attractions will be visited:

Fun and informational... - Fun and informational tour. Gogi has a passion for his country and clearly knows his stuff. Moreover, he was flexible with our time allowing for shopping, roaming, and deviations from the script. Recommend.

Wonderful trip - We had a very nice experience and this all wouldn’t be possible without our tour guide Gogi. He’s friendly and nice, even though the tour is supposed to be only for 6hrs but he accompanied us for like 8hrs which we really appreciate. We’ll definitely be back here! Tbilisi is such underrated place.

Georgia in 3 Days Offers more than What one may Expect - Mtskhete was special. So was the old town Tbilisi, the Slohur baths, the optional cable car and every single image I engraved in my memory. Our guide was a very punctual, highly professional very knowledgable George. The more we inquired the more he opened up his history, geography, literature and art related treasure chest. He always kept his client- guide distance but as we bombarded him with our detailed inquiries regarding the ancient, old and current Georgia, he lowered his gard and let his amateur side accompany his professionalism. He is worth what Viatour standards require. Thanks for your reliable services.

Fascinating and professional guide. A must early on your stay in Tbilisi. - Our guide, George, is clearly passionate about Georgia and had lots of fascinating information to give us about the history of Georgia and Tbilisi. He managed to give it to us in digestible bits, not overwhelming at all. He's a great driver, very comfortable car, and was able to accommodate our need for food and coffee along the way. Excellent English, relaxed, loves his job, and he was able to give us the perspective and contexts we needed to orient us to this amazing place. We did this tour on our first day in Tbilisi, which was so helpful.

Disappointing Tour Experience: Concerns Regarding Safety and Expertise - Our experience with the tour guide was disappointing. While we appreciated the opportunity to see the sites, there were several areas where the tour fell short of our expectations. We found the guide's attention to be frequently diverted by personal phone calls and texting while driving, which raised safety concerns, particularly in heavy traffic.
We also felt the historical information provided was somewhat superficial. We often had to prompt for more detailed explanations, which were not always forthcoming. In comparison to other tours we've taken, the depth of historical knowledge and passion for the subject were noticeably lacking.
Furthermore, there was an uncomfortable exchange regarding our nation's history. Despite our attempts to clarify the inaccuracies, the guide remained insistent, creating an awkward and unprofessional atmosphere.
Overall, we would hesitate to recommend this tour. We believe that a more attentive, knowledgeable, and professional guide would significantly enhance the experience.
