• Mount Maunganui - The driver and guide will lead an engaging exploration of Tauranga’s diverse facets. From the landscape’s formation, the arrival of humans, and the city’s establishment, to the various crops cultivated in the region and contemporary life in the area. Starting from the port gates, the journey will pass through Mount Maunganui township, by Mauao, the iconic mountain landmark, and “The Mount Main Beach,” one of New Zealand’s most beloved beaches, known for surfing, professional beach volleyball, and surf lifesaving events.
• Tauranga - Crossing the Tauranga Harbour Bridge, the tour will proceed through the Port of Tauranga, highlighting how industry has transformed Tauranga into New Zealand’s busiest port, while offering breathtaking views of the harbour and Matakana Island. In Tauranga, visitors will see some of New Zealand’s earliest European settlement buildings, beautiful gardens, and learn about the Maori and European settlement in the Bay of Plenty, which shaped the city of Tauranga as it stands today.
• Minden Lookout - Departing Tauranga, the tour will head west to the Kaimai Ranges’ foothills, offering stunning area views, a lunch stop, shopping, and a chance to taste locally sourced and globally sourced handpicked teas. A short drive will lead to a Kiwifruit orchard, where visitors will learn about the Kiwifruit industry, sample its fruit, including the renowned gold kiwifruit, see Avocado trees, discover how this remarkable tree produces one of the world’s superfoods, and sample local avocado products. The tour concludes with a return to Mount Maunganui, ensuring timely arrival back at the ship.
