• Mount Maunganui - The driver/guide will provide a delightful visual journey to several famous sightseeing locations around Tauranga. Starting from the port gates, the tour travels through Mount Maunganui township, passing Mauao, the iconic mountain landmark, and “The Mount Main Beach,” one of New Zealand’s top beaches known for surfing, professional beach volleyball, and surf lifesaving events. Learn about the landscape’s formation, the arrival of people, the city’s founding, the province’s produce, and modern life in the area.
• Papamoa Hills Cultural Heritage Regional Park - After leaving the beach, the tour continues a short distance along the coast to the Pāpāmoa Hills. Standing at 224 meters at the summit, these hills mark the end of the Otawa range extending from the Mamaku Plateau to the coast. This walk is approximately a one-hour round trip across rolling farmland to the hills’ end, offering sweeping views of the Bay of Plenty coastline and Tauranga city. The area is a significant historical and archaeological site in New Zealand, first settled by Māori around 1400AD, with remains of several Pā (Villages) dating back to 1650AD.
• McLaren Falls Park - The driver will then guide you around the city’s edge into the Kaimai range foothills to Ōmanawa and McLaren Falls Regional Park. This 190-hectare parkland, alongside a man-made lake that supplies the local hydroelectric power station, offers a short walk (approximately 45 minutes round trip) along a winding path up a small streambed to a natural waterfall hidden in native bushland, then around the lake’s edge with birds and other wildlife. Discover local flora and fauna and observe glow-worm threads in daylight.

The journey back to the city includes a brief stop at the Minden Lookout, offering a fantastic view across the harbor. The driver will then return you through the city and across the harbor bridge to the tour’s starting point.
