Sipping from the Mountain Tops - On this tour you get see a lot that is not included in the description making it a great value. We saw a lot of Tauranga and the surrounding country side with stops for beer, seltzer and wine tastings. The wine tasting is at the top of a ski lift with an unbelievable view of the surrounding country side. The owner of the winery and vineyard conducts the tasting and provides an entertaining dialogue and exceptional explanation of the differences between NZ, Australian and American wines and the reasons why. Also make a quick stop to see how kiwi are grown.

A great tasting tour - A wonderful day of beer and wine tasting, stunning scenery and a lovely cocktail and desert to finish the day off! Our guide Paul was knowledgeable about wine and clearly loves where he lives. His sense of humour and quick one liners kept us engaged all day. The trip was well organised and we were picked up and dropped off at our accommodation in a timely manner. Would highly recommend.

Paul’s a Pro! - Paul not only knows the area, because he was born and raised in the area. We learned a lot about the history of Tauranga, saw some beautiful homes and beaches, as well as some white water rafters. He also really knows his wine! The beer tasting at a local brewery was also fun. I would have preferred going to another winery in lieu of having a cocktail at the marina. We would definitely have Paul guide us again!

Paul was great - We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion. Paul was very informative regarding the island and it's history. The brewery was very good, the winery and it's views spectacular and the deserts and cocktails delicious.

Fantastic excursion in Tauranga - What a wonderful day spent with Paul as our guide. Meeting him from our cruise ship was easy, and in a flash we and several other couples were whisked off to explore Taranga and Rotorua. Paul’s love of his homeland shines through, as does his deep knowledge of wine. His quick wit and commentary during our tour made for a delightful outing. Can’t recommend him more enthusiastically.

Tasting the best of Tauranga - Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us around Tauranga before heading to the distillery. However, there are no wineries open close to Tauranga any more so we had to drive to Rotorua. We picked this tour specifically because not a lot of driving was involved. We were not totally disappointed though as we were taken to the tasting room for Volcanic Hills Winery overlooking the Rotorua lake. To get there we had to use a gondola. Once up there we were treated to a tasting of about 5 different wines and an excellent charcuterie board lunch. The stop on the way back for cocktails and afternoon tea was glorious.

Ok but not as advertised - The tour was okay however it didn’t match the TripAdvisor description. The description involved a trip to the Karangahake Gorge and 2 wineries followed by a stop at a historic hotel for desert. The tour proprietor told us he no longer does business at the described wineries and instead would drive us 1 hour South to Rotorua for a wine tasting at the gondola/ entertainment center there. And instead of a second winery stopped at a brewery for beer tasting. Lastly the the desert stop was at a regular restaurant at the Tauranga harbor. Unfortunately 3 days earlier we had already been in Rotorua, and at the gondola center. And half of our party didnt drink beer. While we made the best of it, he should have updated his trip description once he discontinued working with the winery described. It sounds like that change was made a while ago.
