Arrival Day, Briefing & Gear Check

Moshi - Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Here, you will meet your mountain guides for a briefing on the upcoming Kilimanjaro climb and a gear check. Any necessary gear rentals will be arranged today.

Marangu Gate (1,840 m / 6,030 ft) to Mandara Hut (2,800 m / 9,180 ft)

Climbing Marangu Route - You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi and driven to Marangu Gate, a journey of 2-4 hours. After signing in at Kilimanjaro National Park, there will be a brief period (30 minutes to 1 hour) for luggage weighing, which will be carried by our porters. On this first day, you will hike through the rainforest, where you can observe various beautiful bird species and, if fortunate, spot black and white Colobus monkeys in the eucalyptus trees.

Mandara Hut (2,800 m / 9,180 ft) to Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,200 ft)

Climbing Marangu Route - On the second day, the trek continues through the rainforest, gradually transitioning into moorland with stunning views of Mount Mawenzi. Upon reaching the Horombo Huts, you will enjoy the view of Kibo (the crater rim of Mount Kilimanjaro) before a hot dinner is served.

Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,200 ft) to Zebra Rocks (4,020 m / 13,150 ft) and Back

Climbing Marangu Route - This day is crucial for acclimatization. On the 6-day option, you will take a gentle hike with an ascent and descent of approximately 400m to Zebra Rocks, a set of large volcanic rocks with a zebra-like striped pattern. Afterwards, you will rest at the camp, enjoy the magnificent views, and have a hot dinner.

Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,200 ft) to Kibo Hut (4,700m / 15,430 ft)

Climbing Marangu Route - In the morning, the trek continues across the heath, reaching the alpine desert with its volcanic rocks and unforgettable views of Mount Mawenzi and Kibo. The final stretch to Kibo Huts is physically demanding, but by walking “pole pole” (slowly and steadily), you will succeed and retire early, as the exciting summit day awaits tomorrow.

Kibo Hut (4,700m / 15,430 ft) to UHURU PEAK (5,895 m / 19,340 ft) to Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,200 ft)

Climbing Marangu Route - Summit day! After waking around midnight, the goal is to reach Gilman’s Point (5,756 meters / 18,885 ft) by dawn, the first of three official summit points of Mount Kilimanjaro. Finally, after following the crater’s edge, you will stand on Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Kibo. After capturing memorable photos and savoring the precious moment on the rooftop of Africa, you will return to Kibo Huts, celebrate with singing and dancing with the team, and enjoy a hot lunch. After a brief rest, the descent to Horombo Huts continues.

Horombo Hut (3,720 m / 12,200 ft) to Marangu Gate (1,840 m / 6,030 ft)

Climbing Marangu Route - On the final day, the descent is entirely downhill until reaching the gate. Here, you can have your muddy boots cleaned, take photos with the team, enjoy a last hot lunch, and receive your summit certificate from your guide. From here, you will be driven back to the hotel.

Moshi - You will be picked up from your accommodation in Moshi and transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
