The Main Square - Jemaa El-fnaa - Guests are picked up from their hotel and taken to Jemaa el-Fnaa Square for a chance to grab coffee or last-minute snacks. Then, the journey begins toward the Atlas Mountains, which are visible from Marrakech! Children will enjoy watching the city fade away as the ascent into the mountains begins.
High Atlas Mountains - This is where the adventure truly starts. The road winds through traditional Berber villages that appear to cling to the mountainside. Children will be captivated by:
→ Goats scaling cliffs
→ Waterfalls cascading down
→ Mud-brick houses with flat roofs
→ Vendors offering fresh walnuts and honey
Ait Ben Haddou - This is the highlight of Day 1. Ait Ben Haddou is an ancient fortified village, essentially a massive mud castle that has stood for centuries. It’s quite famous.
Movies filmed here include:
- Kingdom of Heaven
- Lawrence of Arabia
- Gladiator
- Game of Thrones (the slave city scenes)
- The Mummy
- And many more
Children might recognize it even if they don’t realize it. A local guide will lead a tour through the kasbah, explaining how families still reside here and pointing out various movie filming locations.
Activities include:
- Crossing the river on stepping stones (during the dry season) or a small bridge
- Exploring narrow, maze-like alleyways
- Climbing to the top for breathtaking valley views (a bit of a hike, but suitable for children aged 5 and up)
- Seeing traditional Berber houses, grain storage rooms, and ancient doors
- Taking countless photos - this place is stunning
Parent tip: Bring water bottles. It can get hot climbing to the top, but the panoramic view is absolutely worth it. Allow children to explore at their own pace - there’s something fascinating around every corner.
Ouarzazate - A quick stop in Ouarzazate for lunch at a family-friendly restaurant (not included - guests choose their meal). Recommendations will be provided for places with clean bathrooms and kid-friendly menus.
Skoura - Arrival in Skoura, with the possibility of visiting more sites in Skoura, depending on the schedule, where the hotel or riad is located.
Skoura-Rose Valley-Boumalne Dades-Todra Gorges – Erfoud - Merzouga Sahara (Camel Ride + Overnight in a Luxury Camp)
Boumalne Dades - Enjoy a panoramic view in Dades.

Merzouga - Arrive in the afternoon in the Merzouga Desert. Leave the car and switch to camels to cross the Sahara to the camp. A stop will be made to enjoy the spectacular sunset atop a high dune. Then, continue to the luxury camp, where guests can enjoy Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a vast open sky of stars. The luxury tent includes a private bathroom and hot running water.

Then, visit the nomads in their hand-woven tent and learn about their lifestyle while enjoying Berber tea. The next destination is Khamlia village, where guests will enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing performances by villagers originating from Sub-Saharan countries.
