What a fun outing! The whole thing was well-organised, very interesting and so delicious! We'll be back for the next tasting!
Very well organized & there are a LOT of varieties during tasting ... Enjoyed the honey & hive information, as well as the cherry pies ... The docents are very well versed in the history of Andy's Orchard as well as the tree types ... The docents are also very patient with the wide-range of experience the visitors bring ... All of the staff, from those that greet the visitors for check-in, to those that hand out safety information & plates, to those that weigh the 'pickings,' as well as those working in the store taking credit payments are professional and very positive ... Having Andy greeting each group is always very welcoming , especially when I am sure everyone has been up at or before daybreak prepping for the tastings ... This is my 2nd year attending, as I just discovered Andy's Orchard last year ... I signed up for all 5 tastings [bringing different friends to each] & often stop by on my way up/down 101 from San Jose ... Thank you!
We have been to Andy's Orchard several years now and we always have the best time!
It is always great to be at Andys Orchard and taste his selection of fruit, long may it last
What a great experience! Loved the tasting and loved walking around the orchard.
The line up of cherry collections for tasting were amazing. One of the most beautiful Orchard I've ever been. The only negative are the cherry galette pie sold on site are not fresh as advertised by the vendor. The crust were previously frozen (might have been cooked fresh then frozen quickly) This is a $20 a piece, but to be fair ....bing fillings are delicious
I had a great time and the event was very well organized. My only suggestions would be to stagger the tasting a bit more. It got a little clogged and chaotic and to start the tours earlier to avoid some congestion in the tasting area. I really enjoyed the vendors and would loved to have seen more. Overall I was very happy with the experience. Great job to everyone involved!
We look forward to this every year! There are so many varieties of cherries laid out on benches that you can taste....almost all you will never see in the store or anywhere else so it's a working biodiversity orchard too. I also loved the tour--it was fascinating to learn about the history and cherry production from very knowledgeable docents! Best of all was wondering through the orchard, picking and tasting tree ripened fruit! There are only a few varieties that will be ready to pick from in the orchard, but if walking through uneven dirt in the orchard isn't your interest, you can buy them at the store, which also has some tasty jams, pies, and pastries that are worth the 1.5 hr drive for us.
We came two years ago and there was an abundance of cherries and other stone fruits to taste. This time, when we arrived around 10:30, all stone fruits were gone and even some cherry sample baskets were empty. We had so much fun coming in the past trying all the different fruits, we were really looking forward to sharing this event with family. We had a good time and loved picking cherries with our daughters, but we were disappointed in the tasting experience. We hope to come back in the future and hope there will be more to taste.
the best part of the event was learning about the cherries(history, problems, the why's about cherries). Andy ran our walking through the orchard experience and was full of fantastic information. we are planning on attending as many of the events as we can.
There were a lot of people at the tour which is great, but it would be good in the future to space people’s arrivals out a bit. I came at 10 and there was a lot of people trying to come at once. This resulted in a really large tour. Andy’s staff was really nice and wonderful to talk to. The tour was informative. The fruit was amazing!
Great location, food and people !
Friendly staff and lots of varieties of cherries to choose from. The peaches and nectarines were delicious.
Great tour and tasting! Since the crowd was so large, would have been nice to have more than two reps leading tour groups out to the orchard. Had a difficult time hearing anything our tour leader was saying due to the size of the crowd.
Other than that, we had a wonderful time!
Too many people. Felt rushed through the orchard and by the time we were done, there was very little left on the tasting tables. It felt like a money grab to me.
We had a great time tasting and picking cherries we've never had before. Our docent, John, was also knowledgeable and interesting. Thanks!
Even with the large # of attendees [600+], owners & volunteers were patient & welcoming. On our tour through the orchard, the volunteer was willing & very knowledgeable to answer questions [our group was interested in the grafting process & the fact that planting the stone of the fruit would not produce a tree that would bear the exact same fruit ... wow! Bathrooms were also a welcome surprise for an outdoor activity such as this ... clean & available. We have signed up for 3 of your future tour & tasting. Cool weather was very welcoming, but we know not to expect that throughout the summer. We purchased nectarines in your store which was also manned by very nice people. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday!
Tours are extremely well organized. Tour leaders are very knowledgeable and have a personal commitment to agriculture. Always fun to taste and pick.
One of the best ways to sample commercial / heirloom varieties of cherries/nectarines/apricots. So many of these fruits are not available in chain/farmers/small markets. There were ample locations set-up for tastings. Items were well marked with the varietal name. It's important to read the signs, as there were several of the same type of fruit samples set-up. It's nice to know what variety of fruits you are eating vs "red" "sweet" or "yellow" which how supermarkets generally label them. Take photos/notes of the ones you like or don't like. Take your time to enjoy each varietal and savour what it offers your taste buds.
The orchard tour is another excellent feature of the event. You are able to pick your own from various types of fruit trees that are pointed out to you. There are pre-selected varieties of fruit trees, and sometimes your tour guide will point out others that were not on the "official" list.
In all a great way to spend a couple hours, learn something new and increase your awareness of what ripe fruit should taste like.
Great tour guide. Well organized event. Fruits were delicious, well worth the entrance fee.
Everyone was friendly, learned so much on our tour & got to eat/purchase delicious fruit from Andy’s orchard!!
We loved doing this for Father's day.
Amazing harvest walk and cherry picking! My 4 year old had a blast, as did we!
We love the tastings! Always the best time for our family on Father's Day. It's a favorite annual event for us.
Our family and friends truly enjoyed the experience. Hard to beat walking around this impressive heirloom orchard with Andy himself. Just to see the look on his face when he described how eating a peach out of hand, rather than slicing it (and losing the juice), was ideal was worth the price of admission and more. =) . . . Summer just wouldn't be right without Andy's peaches -- we are entirely spoiled and would rather wait than eat a supermarket peach. Of course, it isn't just Andy: The staff are without exception wonderful, helpful and nearly as sweet as the fruit. ;-) I'm so happy to be able to share this experience with my young children.
It was very easy to Park inside
You were very generous in tastings
Tour and picking informative and nice
Hosts very nice and warm
