Mudjimba - Old Woman Island (or Mudjimba Island) is located 1km off the coast. There are a number of Aboriginal legends abound about the Island. One has it, the Island was the result of an epic battle between two men, Coolum and Ninderry, and a woman called Maroochy. The end result was that Coolum’s head was knocked off and ended up in the ocean, creating Mudjimba Island. Mount Coolum, seven kilometers to the north, is now flat topped due to the lack of a head!
There are various other legends involving Aboriginal women living on the island until old age, hence the “Old Woman” name.

Our vessels depart from the jetty on the river side of The Wharf Mooloolaba complex behind the restaurant 'Rice Boi'. There is a directory located at the main entrance at The Wharf complex. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure.

Fabulous whale experience - The staff were amazing with their friendly explanations and smiles. It was great to see the communication between boats for the sighting of whales and we were so lucky to see a mum, calf and escort.

Fabulous tour with a great crew - highly recommended. - Fantastic small group tour. Our crew Rod & Jake were fabulous, informative & professional. We learnt so much about humpback whales in such a short time. The boat was very comfortable, zippy & viewing was great as group was small. We saw/followed 3 pods during the two hours watching mum, baby & their escort which was fascinating. We were lucky enough to see a breach with our last pod which was incredible. Our first whale watching tour & we were not disappointed. The two hours flew by but was also perfect timing if you don't want to be out for half a day. Highly recommended with a great ethical crew. Thank you

Fabulous trip with expert Skippers - Our two skippers Rod & Hayden were 100% in every way. They did their utmost to make our trip informative, fun and most of all to find some whales for us to marvel at. The boat seats about 20 people and there was a lot of room to stand up and move around while the boat was idling, allowing us to watch the whales migrating south to Antarctica. We learned a lot from both Rod and Hayden about whale behaviour, habits and conservation. They handled the boat beautifully, finding the best places to idle to give the best views, followed by a bit of an adrenaline ride back into harbour. I can highly recommend this trip from start to finish. (possibly not for people who know they will or might get seasick as the boat is very close to the water) .

An absolutely wonderful... - An absolutely wonderful experience, with some awesome sightings of frolicking whales. I wasn't quite expecting such a fast boat and for how wet we all got, but it was the most incredible fun. Friendly and knowledgeable crew to top it off.

Incredible day - We had a fabulous, fun and informative experience. We were lucky enough to see a “heat-run” where a number of bulls cute for a female in order to mate. They were chasing each other and knocking each other around. Our boat managed to get up quite close. Great fun commentary from the skipper.

Incredible Whale Watching - We had an incredible experience. Our skipper Jack and his assistant James were knowledgeable, easy going and fun. We spent approximately an hour with a very playful calf and it's mother - we saw lots of breaching and pectoral slapping. The boat was small so we weren't crowded and all had great views. I would definitely recommend this experience.
