Mudjimba beach - Old Woman Island (or Mudjimba Island) is located 1km off the coast. There are a number of Aboriginal legends abound about the Island. One has it, the Island was the result of an epic battle between two men, Coolum and Ninderry, and a woman called Maroochy. The end result was that Coolum’s head was knocked off and ended up in the ocean, creating Mudjimba Island. Mount Coolum, seven kilometers to the north, is now flat topped due to the lack of a head!
There are various other legends involving Aboriginal women living on the island until old age, hence the “Old Woman” name.

Great time - We were lucky enough to see whales breaching, with beautiful calm water . Tour guides were lovely and very informative! Thoroughly enjoyed our experience!

10/10 - Crew was an absolute 10/10, made sure everyone had a good time.
We saw loads of whales and even a calve,

Quick to the whales - Everything was excellent, the safe boat, the great crew and how much whale activity we saw.

Great trip highly tecommend - we saw dolphins, one lonely turtle and lots of whales (mum and babies). Some breaching and doing the tail slap. It was a nice calm day highly recommend

Amazing Experience!! - Wonderful experience seeing the whales. It was amazing, the whales slapping their fins on top of the water, and making blowhole noises and other sounds - I will never forget this. Highly, highly recommend.

A Great Experience - A great experience on a perfect day with a great skipper and crew (Georgia). We saw lots of whales blowing in the distance and two others that breached right beside the boat!
Highly recommend this 2 hour whale watching cruise!

Awesome experience with Adventure Rafting - The boat trip was fantastic in itself and exhilarating. Our skipper was very informative and entertaining as we went in search of whales. We saw a pod of dolphins and it was only when we were about to head back that whales were sighted. Not only did we see a wonderful breach in the distance but were treated to an amazing show right next to the boat as they came to us! The whales were fascinating to watch and we were told our experience was rare and called a 'mugging'! They were obviously really curious to see us too. Was a once in a life time experience and so glad we chose to go. Highly recommend this company.

Friendly Crew but No Whale Sightings - We joined the whale watching tour with high hopes, as this was the main reason we travelled to the Sunshine Coast. Unfortunately, we didn’t see a single whale during the trip. We completely understand that nature is unpredictable and sightings can’t be guaranteed. However, it was disappointing to learn that there is no policy in place for a second chance or partial refund, as some other tour operators offer. When you’re marketing a tour specifically as a whale watching experience, it’s reasonable for customers to expect at least some form of goodwill gesture when no whales are seen, especially for those who travel specifically for this activity.
The crew was friendly and the boat was comfortable, but overall we left feeling let down.
