A private tour with a seasoned guide is the best way to make the most of your time in Monteverde at either the Monteverde Reserve or Curi Cancha Reserve. This option is great for anyone who would like a more personal touch than a standard group tour. Also great for families with children! Unlike many operators that charge per person, we offer a flat rate for your private guide for 1-4 people and for 5-8 people. This tour doesn’t include transport, but we have a customization of this tour that includes round trip transport. We look forward to hosting you!
- This tour runs rain or shine (except in a strong thunder storm or very strong winds). Please dress appropriately with long pants and closed toed shoes (no flip flops or loose sandals). Also, layers recommended!
- Wheelchair accessible only on limited part of Treetopia bridges and at Aguti Reserve.
- Non-strenuous, mostly flat walk

Great family tour - Marvin was a great guide for our family, helping us find coati, hummingbirds, quetzal and many other bird species. The 7:30 tour was great, beating the crowd that showed up shortly after.

Monteverde Reserve Private Tour - Incredible Guide Marcos - Private tours well worth the cost. Marcos personally provided transfer then led our family on an excellent tour of the Monteverde Reserve, sharing so much of his enthusiasm for both the plants and animals. He also expertly helped find an excellent viewing of the Quetzal. He was so good I booked a second morning birding tour where based on our experience the first morning he so thoughtfully crafted a different experience.

Amazing tour! - We had an absolutely amazing experience! Our guide, Marcos, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the cloud forest. We saw a variety of creatures and learned a tremendous amount about the forest. Thank you so much!

Wildlife spotting - We walked the paths of Curi Cancha Preserve. Our guide was an amazing spotter but also knowledgeable on where to look. He explained the connections and relationships among both plants and animals, The coolest part was the eight varieties of hummingbirds we saw.

The best guide for families - We would like to express our immense gratitude to our guide Marcos for a wonderful tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest!
We were traveling as a family with an 8-year-old boy, and the weather, unfortunately, decided to test our resilience—it was raining. But Marcos turned this into an advantage! He had thoughtfully provided our entire family, including the child, with high-quality waterproof ponchos in advance, so there was no discomfort at all.
Marcos is not just a guide but a true enthusiast and expert of his region. His knowledge of the animal and plant life of Monteverde is truly profound. He spoke so captivatingly and clearly that it was interesting for everyone: for us adults and for the 8-year-old boy. He found examples and words understandable to a child, engaged him in dialogue, and pointed out the most amazing details that we would never have noticed on our own.
You can feel that Marcos genuinely loves the nature of Costa Rica and his job, and treats tourists with warmth and care. Thanks to him, we saw the forest not just as a beautiful landscape, but as a living, breathing organism.
We wholeheartedly recommend Marcos as the perfect guide for a family tour! This was one of the brightest and most informative days of our entire trip. Thank you so much!

Incredible! This was my... - Incredible! This was my second time in Monteverde and once again amazing. I highly recommend this tour either private or in group. Our guide Justin was very knowledgeable and friendly. He showed plenty of animals and insects you’d never have seen on your own.

Marcos is an EXCELLENT guide. - Marcos is a very knowledgeable and very friendly guide. We had a great time with him despite the pouring rain. He made the flora just as interesting as the fauna. (The strangler tree a highlight). I highly recommend Marcos.
