The Night Tour Refuge is a 2-hour light stroll designed for night dwelling animals’ enthusiasts. It’s an excellent opportunity to spot wildlife like sloths, armadillos, porcupines, opossums, coatis, olingos, kinkajous among others, including nocturnal birds and an assorted range of insects.
El Refugio provides an ideal birdwatching spot with species like resting toucans, mot-mots, and black guans available, alongside treetop dwellers like monkeys, coatis, olingos, sloths, frogs, snakes, and a myriad of insects. A typical tour allows you to witness 3-5 kinds of mammals, 5–10 bird species, a few snakes or frogs, and countless insects, offering the largest variety of animals distinguishable in any night tour around the locale.
The tour comprises a group of four to six individuals guided by a local tour leader who will provide an orientation and flashlights before embarking on the stroll through El Refugio’s tracks. Limited slots are available, thus prior booking is advisable.
