Wonderful experience - We had Mauricio as our guide at Curi-Cancha and he was so knowledgeable and his English was perfect. We saw lots of hummingbirds and he knew all the species names. He was very detailed in his explanations and really nice.

Fantastic tour with Mauricio! - We had such a great tour of curi cancha with Mauricio! He knew the name of every bird/animal/plant that we saw. He was extremely knowledgeable and very warm and engaging. His English was very good and understandable as well. He was also very good at spotting animals.I would highly recommend this tour and Mauricio!

Interesting and a good walk - Good experience made better by the knowledge of the guide. He knows where to look and walk so makes the walk so much better than doing alone. Plus like all the tours it’s a social too mixing with other people of different cultures and your own, so recommend

Nice Experience - Our tour guide was very friendly and did an excellent job managing the schedule. We saw animals we had never seen before in the reserve, making the tour a great experience.

Exceptional local guide who went the extra mile - Mauricio kindly came and gave me a one to one tour after I whatsapp messaged him. I really felt like I was with someone who really really knows his stuff. He pointed and explained so many birds, plants, animals and their behaviour and I loved it! And also he talked about the wider ecosystems, political systems and concerns of the area and local people, which helped me understand even further how to be an ethical and respoible tourist in Costa Rica.
Really special to have such an incredible local guide so friendly, willing and able to share their knowledge with you. Highly recommend and also really great value for money. Thank you Mauricio!

Go with a guide if you want a much fuller experience. - We had an Excellent experience exploring Curi Cancha reserve with our guide Mauricio. We saw many interesting birds that we would have definitely missed without his help. We also learned a lot about the area and its natural history. Going with a guide is definitely worth it and Mauricio was great.

Mauricio is just the best!! - We did an early morning tour in Curi Cancha as well as a night tour in the Monteverde Wildlife Refuge with Mauricio. We travelled with our two young (energetic) young boys. Mauricio was amazing!! His mixture of his knowledge, love and respect of the local ecosystem as well as keen nature of sharing with others, is magic. Everytime he heard an “Oh my gosh!!” from one of my kids with something he scoped out for them to view - his face lit up and you can tell it was a symbiotic experience. Had we not done guided tours, we would have missed 95% of what Mauricio shared with us. Exceptionally professional, patient (esp with my kids) and genuinely vested in providing an individual and rewarding experience.

Elbert the hellbird - We had an incredible experience on our bird-watching tour with Elbert (Hellbird)! From start to finish, his enthusiasm and deep knowledge of the local wildlife made the trip both educational and exciting. He had a keen eye for spotting birds and made sure that everyone had a chance to see them clearly before any photos were taken, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Hellbird was not only incredibly helpful but also friendly and patient, answering all our questions with a smile. If you're looking for a fantastic bird-watching experience, this tour with Hellbird is a must! Highly recommend!

Poor guide - Guide didn't seem interested in looking for birds and didn't even show us small birds. We would hear birds singing, but he didn't even look up and around and would ignore our requests. The guide didn't describe things well and often contradicted himself. He could have stayed with other tour guides, but decided to go by himself. The tour about 2 hours even though it said 3 hours. Would not recommend. We should get our money back for this tour.
