Private Tour: Highly Recommend - We happened to be the only family on the morning tour, so we enjoyed a private tour with our sommelier, Luigi. He provided a wealth of insight into the wine making process, effects of soil and climate, as well as regional differences that impact taste and quality. We tasted four wines with local bread, cheese, salami, and pancetta during which Luigi answered our many questions with good humor. The newly renovated tasting room in the deep Etruscan cellars was captivating and added to the experience. We enjoyed the Talosa Reserve and Rossi IGT Pietrose so much we shipped several home. A terrific experience; we highly recommend.

Okay experience - The wine tasting was good but I was disappointed that it was not at the winery but in the town. We learned about the difference in the wines and there was not too much pressure to buy into the wine club.

Ignored and Took Way Too Long - The cellar was definitely interesting to view, as part of it is from 600 BC. However, this tour was advertised as English, yet it was multi lingual. I completely understand having a tour guide speak both Italian and English to the group, but then advertise it as such. The problem was there were only two couples. We spoke English and our explanation of things took 2-5 minutes. Meanwhile the Italian description to the other couple took about 20 minutes. This happened for the entirety of the tour of the cellar and then again for tasting each wine. The experience took an extra hour due to this, and we missed seeing the sunset on our last night in Tuscany. Instead we were waiting in a cellar for the leader to release us, as he chatted with the other couple for 30 minutes. I regret booking this and would not recommend unless you have plenty of time and don’t mind feeling ignored for a couple of hours. It didn’t feel right that we paid the same price and yet our total explanation time was likely 45 minutes, whereas the other couple had 1.5+ hour explanations. Totally makes sense to offer it the tour in multi languages, but then just offer them at separate times so the tour doesn’t take double the time. We wasted so much time in a dark cellar that day.

Would Not Recommend - We were very disappointed in our tour (18 Oct - 3:30pm). It was supposed to be an English speaking tour but we couldn’t understand the guy? He talked too fast and we as well as others on the tour were saying we couldn’t understand what he was saying. He kept stepping aside and was texting on his phone a lot too. We would not recommend this wine tour.
