From the boat, you can admire the vibrant fishing boats, the historic walls encircling the harbor, and the white houses overlooking the water. This port is the vibrant center of Monopoli’s maritime heritage, offering an ideal introduction to the city’s rich history and authentic ambiance.
- Cala Porta Vecchia - As you sail along the coast, you reach Porta Vecchia, a historic gateway in the city walls that once served as an entrance to the old city. From the boat, you can appreciate its impressive architecture and the beautiful city beach below, cherished by locals. The sea view provides a unique perspective on the blend of ancient and modern, history and daily life, that defines Monopoli’s coastline.
- Polignano a Mare - Continuing along the coast, you arrive at the breathtaking Scoglio dell’Eremita, a natural landmark marking the entrance to Polignano a Mare. This majestic rock, standing proudly in the sea, is named after a hermit who once lived in a nearby cave. From the boat, you can admire its grandeur and the contrast between the white rocks and the deep blue waters. A spot of pure beauty that welcomes you to Polignano a Mare, perfect for capturing unforgettable photos.
- Cala Port’Alga - Then, passing through Cala Corvino, a hidden cove nestled between towering rocky cliffs, visible only from the sea, you arrive at Port’Alga, one of Polignano a Mare’s most distinctive coves. Viewed from the boat, this small bay captivates with its authenticity: once a mooring point for local fishermen, it retains a rustic and untouched charm. Its clear waters and wind and sea-shaped rocks make it ideal for a brief photo stop or a refreshing swim. Port’Alga is one of the most genuine and tranquil corners of the Polignano coast.
- Grotta Piana - The journey continues towards Grotta Piana, one of Polignano a Mare’s natural marvels. This sea cave is notable for its wide opening and the spectacular landscape surrounding it. Viewed from the sea, this picturesque cove is framed by high cliffs that plunge into the crystal-clear waters. Its main feature is the small pebble beach nestled between the rock walls, with a small bridge connecting the cliffs. It is an ideal spot to admire the contrast between wild nature and the beauty of the sea, where the tranquility and majesty of the rocks create a truly enchanting atmosphere. Nearby, you can also see the striking statue of the famous Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno, renowned for his song “Volare”. Returning to Monopoli, there will be a stop to admire all the famous caves of Polignano, including the Cave of Lovers.
- Grotta Palazzese - The tour concludes at the extraordinary Palazzese Cave, one of the area’s most renowned natural wonders. This captivating sea cave opens directly onto the crystal-clear sea and is celebrated for its unique beauty, with rocky walls accessible only by sea. Wonderful trip! - We had a great time! The boat trip was beautiful and relaxing. Francesca and Domenico are a lovely young couple. And Domenico was able to take the boat into many grottos. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely day - We had a lovely day on the water! Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable from start to finish. The tour itself was both informative and absolutely beautiful.
One of the highlights was the smaller boat — with only 5 or 6 people on board, it created a much more intimate and personal atmosphere compared to larger tours. It felt like a private outing rather than a crowded excursion.
I would definitely recommend this experience to friends and family. A perfect way to spend time on the water!

Super experience with Toboat with great plaster Francesca and skipper Domenico. - When the boat arrived we initially thought ‘oh too bad, it’s only a small boat’. But that disappointment soon gave way to the thought “how nice!”
This has made it a very personal trip with a lot of information about Monopoli and Polignano a mare. Our tour guide Francesca knew a lot to tell us in English.
The sea was a little rough on the way there.
When we sailed back the sea became much rougher which was not predicted but our skipper Domenico knew exactly what he had to do in a very calm way so that we did not feel unsafe for a moment.
All in all (also with the tasty foccacia, taralli and prosecco) we enjoyed ourselves enormously and we recommend everyone to go by toboat with Francesca and Domenico.

Must do in Monopoli - Our tour with Francesca and Domenico was one of the most memorable experiences we had in Puglia, they are very attentive and caring guides - who also serve an excellent prosecco! It was easy to see passing other tour boats that they provide a much more personalized service and we loved being able to get close enough to swim under the cave restaurant.

Beautiful boat experience in Monopoli - After a few days of cancellations due to poor weather, we were excited to head out on our boat trip. Our guide Yana provided some interesting details about sites along the way, and our captain Giovanni negotiated the swell and tight caves with great precision. The views along the coast were spectacular, and we would definitely recommend this small group tour.

Excellent in every way and hosted by friendly, knowledgeable couple - We had a superb trip with Toboat. It was a comfortable boat, easy to board, spotlessly clean and expertly skippered. The crew who live locally, were knowledgeable about the area and shared interesting facts and also happy to give other advice and recommendations to help us plan our time in Puglia. The caves were spectacular. The aperitifs were generous, locally made and delicious, this is truly an excellent trip to include in your visit to the area, we highly recommend.

Very disappointed as it... - Very disappointed as it was cancelled just before and was our wedding anniversary treat. We were there only for days and they wouldn’t accommodate us at any time
