Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dune - Embark on a journey to the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune, also known as the Semi-Gobi, located 290 KM from Ulaanbaatar. This destination offers a sand dune perfect for walking and camel rides. Elsen-Tasarkhai is part of the Mongol Els Sand Dunes, which span the provinces of Tuv, Uvurkhangai, and Bulgan, covering a length of about 80 km. The Khugnu Tarna main road separates the southern dunes from the northern Mongolian sands. The Tarna River runs along the western edge of the dunes, with underground water supporting the growth of willow, elm, dogwood, and shrubs. To the north, the rocky and forested Khugnu Khan Mountain rises, while the site known as Ikh Mongol, marking Mongolia’s geographical center, is located south of the dunes.

Erdene Zuu Monastery - Kharkhorin City, formerly known as Karakorum, served as the capital of the Great Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Situated on the right bank of the Orkhon River, it is approximately 360 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s current capital.

In 1380, Karakorum was destroyed, but nearly two centuries later, Avtai Khan, the founder of Erdene Zuu Monastery, established his royal yurt on the same site.

Today, Kharkhorin is abundant in historical and cultural attractions.
