Excellent Customer Service in the Shop - We had a fabulous day at Hampton Court Palace. My family and I would particularly like to commend the excellent staff in the shop, namely Nicole, Noleen and Wendy. We were bowled over by their wonderful customer service, professionalism and friendliness especially with my 6 year old daughter. They made her day by their genuine kindness and interest, and are a genuine asset to the Palace. With many thanks and kind wishes

Tour of the Gardens. Special Guide, Ann - I was lucky enough to get myself into a Tour of the Gardens. The whole day was amazing. I loved everything about the place. But Ann our Guide of the beautiful Gardens made the day extra special for me. She was terrific. She made its history come to life. Thank you Ann.

Amazing time - Went for Halloween at Hampton court with a friend and the whole experience was amazing, such a beautiful building even with renovation work happening it didn't disturb the day or experience at all, had a lovely cream and jam scone with tea at the tiltyard cafe, the Halloween ghosts and decorations were very good not over the top taking away from the Hampton experience but adding to it in a very fun and creative way.

Hampton court palace family review - My daughters surprised me with a visit to Hampton Court palace on the 24th October for my birthday. The whole day was lovely and we felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. All the staff were kind and approachable. Staff members Wendy and Tom who we met in the main gift shop, were so sweet to give us some birthday vouchers to use at the onsite cafeteria for teas and cakes. Staff member Jolene also from the gift shop was very informative and shared with us how to become members which would save us money on future visits. She also told us about upcoming events at Hampton court. They were such a warm, helpful and friendly staff team in that shop. The shop itself stocked some really lovely souvenirs. We purchased a “medieval knights goblet” to commemorate the visit. I have a disability of osteoarthritis in my knees where walking on uneven ground or climbing stairs can exacerbate my knee pain. Again wendy guided me to lift locations and advised that I could also use the on site mobility scooters to ensure I could get to see the beautiful gardens without putting further strain on my knees. All of this interaction and use of the mobility scooter really helped to make it such an enjoyable visit.

No guides ! - The ticket prices are not cheap. Also there are additional car parking fees. However, the car park is spacious and for the time of year, November, plenty of spaces. The only option for a guided tour was the use of a tablet and headphones. I would have much preferred a person as a guide. Alas all the guides seemed to be heavily involved with the large amount of school children visits. Many class sized groups of children which regrettably in my opinion loses the ability to really feel the history of the building. I appreciate it’s a good day out for children but I think the number of classes should be limited . Far too many. It’s an interesting palace and I loved the gardens too. The shop sells a nice selection of related items. The cafe is good and the home made soup and bread was particularly good value. There are vegan options . Overall a recommended visit but I would recommend seeking offers to lower the expense.

Fascinating Tudor history and lovely gardens with wild birds - Was curious about the life of Henry the VIII, so decided to visit Hampton Court Palace. Did not book any tour coach, had caught the train to Kingston and a bus from there. Had booked the palace ticket in advance. Had liked the garden maze that takes 20 minutes to get into the centre, the kitchen gardens, the State Apartments and the Privy Gardens. On enquiry, the staff said the magic garden for children is closed for the winter. Did not hear the ghostly screams of Catherine Howard on the corridor, though others say they did. Ticket price was £28 per person, so it is definitely high and worth a one time visit. I spent 5 hours at this place. Will recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Ok but not worth the cost. - We have visited many houses around the uk as National Trust members and Hampton Court is ok. It’s certainly not a blenheim palace or a like, we spent just over two hours there and couple of days before spent 5 1/2 hrs at Hever Castle. Not cheap to get in and have to pay for parking on top. Would not visit again, it’s ok.

Save your money - more like an art gallery - Dear Sir or Madam, Huge dissatisfaction with my recent visit to Hampton Court Palace. Having long anticipated an engaging and historically immersive experience, I was disappointed to find that the visit did not meet the standard one would reasonably expect from such a significant heritage site. Firstly, the lack of artifacts, period costumes, and interpretive material was striking. Many rooms felt sparse and devoid of the elements that would help convey the lived reality of the palace’s history. Instead, the experience appeared to rely predominantly on paintings, giving the impression of an art gallery rather than the richly layered royal residence Hampton Court Palace is known to be. Furthermore, there was a noticeable absence of ambient features that might have brought the environment to life. In areas such as the kitchens, the use of sounds, props, or activity-based displays would have greatly enhanced visitors’ understanding and engagement. As presented, the spaces lacked atmosphere and a personal, human touch. This was particularly evident in the Chocolate Kitchen, which consisted merely of a bare table and some old pots and pans, offering very little sense of its historical purpose or significance. Clear visitor navigation also seemed to be an issue. Signage was limited or insufficiently visible, making it difficult to determine the appropriate route through the palace and which areas were accessible. The lighting throughout several rooms was also below standard, affecting both visibility and the overall quality of the visitor experience. I must additionally raise my concerns regarding staff conduct. Many staff members appeared disengaged, but the incident at the ticket area was particularly troubling. Although the staff member who laughed at me had not served me directly, she overheard me raising my concerns. When the staff member I was speaking to went to fetch the manager, the other staff member walked over to a colleague, made a remark, and both turned and laughed. The staff member speaking had her back to me, but she deliberately looked over in my direction during the exchange behaviour that strongly suggested their conversation was about me. This felt unprofessional, disrespectful, and wholly inappropriate for a public-facing heritage site. When I later explained this to the on-site manager, her response only compounded the situation. She immediately told me that she “works with these people every day,” implying that her familiarity with the staff was reason enough to dismiss my account. I made it clear that this should not matter, as she had not witnessed the incident herself and staff will naturally behave differently with their manager than with members of the public. Nevertheless, she continued to side with the staff without carrying out any meaningful enquiry. This left me feeling further dismissed and reinforced the impression that visitor concerns are not taken seriously. Not worth £30 each!
