Historical records indicate that the land on which they were built belonged to the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy. The church features various reredos, including a fire-gilded altarpiece with an image of the Virgin of Mercy, who was declared the “heavenly protector of Lima” in 1615.
