Short visit, lasting impression. Book ahead - I visited the Last Supper with a guided tour in English, which I would strongly recommend. The guide added a lot of context and detail that you would likely miss if you were visiting on your own. After entering through an airlock system designed to protect the painting, you are given about 15 minutes inside the room. That may sound short, but it is enough time to take in the work, walk around, and really observe the details. It helps to take a moment first and just look, before reaching for your camera. Do not forget to also look at the large artwork on the opposite wall, which is often overlooked. After the viewing, you exit through another controlled area, where additional information about the restoration process is shared. There is also a small gift shop and restrooms at the end. Very important tip: book your tickets well in advance. Even on a weekday, people at the entrance were being told that tickets were sold out for days ahead.

Highest recommendation. - Absolutely worth it. Take the agency’s preparations seriously and get there on-time with your info as the Italian authorities are all business with multiple security checks. Our guide Marcella (?) was beyond superb…. she basically presents a college course’s worth of context, history and technical detail — when you realize where you’d have been standing in 1944, you realize just how miraculous this whole site really is.

Entertaining and oh so educational - Excellent in all aspects. Informative and entertaining. Our docent, Marcella, had a great way of imparting a lot of info in an easy to understand way. The process itself of seeing this masterpiece is astonishing - many steps and layers to keep the work safe. Highly recommend
