In this remarkable forest, hikers will encounter pines, oaks, and oyameles, along with stunning mountain roses and the unique Teporingo rabbit.
As the trail ascends, hikers are treated to views of the majestic Pico de Orizaba (Mexico’s highest mountain), the mysterious Malinche, and the Sierra Negra. The landscape gradually changes from dense forests to alpine scrub, and finally to rocky and volcanic terrain.
Duration: 7 hours (hike)
Distance: 15 kilometers (with an option to extend to 18 km)
Views of Popocatépetl: During the ascent, the active volcano Popocatépetl can be seen, with its fumaroles and impressive presence.
Technical stops: Several breaks are taken to rest, hydrate, and enjoy the INCLUDED snacks, fruits, and energy drinks.
End of Altitude: 4000 meters above sea level (optional up to 4200).
Requirements: Sports clothing and footwear.
Extension option to 4200 meters above sea level for the more adventurous.

Vale la Pena (well worth it) - Was great to get out of the city and experience the beautiful nearby mountains. Seeing the volcanos up close was a real treat. Mario and Carlos are excellent guides.

Excellent guide showing good humour and hiker safety - Wow, what a fantastic day! My trip with Hiking Puebla and my guide Carlos was excellent. He picked me up from my hotel at 6.30am and we drove 2 hours to the national park visitor centre. Carlos has a great love of the outdoors and nature, so there was always interesting conversation and good humour. I appreciated how Carlos took serious care for me - he gave a good safety briefing before we started hiking, regularly asked how I was feeling due to altitude, and made a sound decision to turn back when the weather got back on Iztaccihuatl. I strongly recommend Carlos for this experience.

Professionalism, security and trust - Fantastic experience! I had my doubts about the height, but Daniel was by my side motivating me and taking care of me. As a result it was a perfect ascent!!! Mario and Daniel the best, no doubt!

Fantastic experience - On the high mountain you expect professionalism in the guides, confidence, knowledge and organization as well as sympathy and joy. This is exactly what Mario and Daniel gave us. Great hiking through the volcanoes. Fully recommended!!!
