- Grutas Tolantongo - This aquatic center is divided into two sections. First we will visit the Paradise section where the 40 thermal pools are located. You will change your clothes on your swimsuit and water shoes. We will take care of your things you won’t use safety inside the vehicle. We will spend 2 and a half hours in this section. You can enjoy the suspension wooden bridge, hot springs, the tunnel and the small waterfalls. Each pool has a unique design. By arriving early we will not find many people and the experience will be incredible being able to take beautiful photos. Afterwards we will visit the Grotto section where you will enjoy the waterfall, the grotto and the blue river. We will also be here for two and a half hours. You can buy food or have lunch at one of the restaurants. Before leaving you can take a shower and change into dry clothes
- Mexico City - We will leave back to Mexico City. The return to your accommodation will take approximately 4 hours.

Amazing! - Amazing! Such an incredible experience, going private was so worth it! Ricardo was the best, he informed us of where was best to go and the history of the place but also gave us privacy and time to enjoy the park by ourselves! We chose to get the zip line to the bottom is was amazing! We got there early and left as late as possible with enough time to enjoy the evening in Mexico City!!

Epic Journey is Legit and this really is an amazing experience. - Booked this private tour through Viator for myself and my wife. We were promptly picked up at 5am at our hotel in Mexico City by our tour guide in a full-sized, air conditioned van. We were able to easily sleep in the van and we woke up four hours later in Tolantongo. At 9am, the grounds are pretty empty and you have your choice of where you would want to go. It starts to get busy around 11am and that's when your guide takes you to the next area. The hot springs are even better than you see on social media. Not only do you get to hang at the picturesque, infinity pools, but you also can climb through caves and lounge in warm rivers with clear, blue water. This was undeniably a highlight to our trip to Mexico, Epic Journey is a legitimate tour operator, and Gerardo Fuentes was a safe driver and helpful guide.

Amazing experience. - This was such a great experience. We were a little shocked that we were picked up in a personal car opposed to a van! Felt more like an uber ride opposed to a tour guide. However, he was very pleasant and nice. He was very patient also. Beware that this park is not for the week. Many hills and steep inclines. The pools were very nice and the zip line was amazing. Manage your time wisely so that you can enjoy all the park has to offer. The food was great in my opinion. Be sure to choose a tour option that jncludes food because ours didn’t. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay for food! Loved this and would do it again.

Excellent - We had an amazing experience our driver Abraham was excellent, on time, courteous and brought us back to the city before our anticipated arrival so we were able to make our next activity on time. He also provided us great insight and knowledge about Mexico City, Grutas Tolantongo and more. 10/10 stars for our driver and the company.

One-of-a-Lifetime Experience - Amazing destination! Hot springs, waterfall, grotto, river in beautiful mountains. Our guide was on time and gave us good tips. Summer months are rain season; weekends are overcrowded. Pick up and drop off at the apartment was the main reason we chose Epic Travel. We are now ordering another trip with them.
Tip for those who wear glasses: They will get foggy in the grotto and tunnel - either have your goggles on or dip your glasses in the warm water to defog them.
Water proof pouches for phones are best bought ahead of time in any mall in Mexico City. Use your phone flashlight when in the tunnel - it has unexpected drops, but it was so much fun!

Great experience - We did the private tour to Grutas Tolantongo, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City. Everything was very well organized from the moment we were picked up, and the whole experience felt smooth and comfortable.
Having the private tour made a big difference because we could go at our own pace, stop whenever we wanted for photos, and really enjoy the incredible scenery without feeling rushed.
A special thank you to our driver, who was extremely kind, professional, and attentive throughout the entire day. The drive is long, but he made it very comfortable and safe, and his friendly attitude made the experience even better.
Tolantongo itself is absolutely breathtaking. The turquoise thermal pools on the mountainside, the cave with the warm waterfall, and the beautiful canyon views are something you have to see to believe.
If you are visiting Mexico City, I highly recommend doing this private tour. It’s an unforgettable experience and definitely one of the most unique places we’ve ever visited.

Great escape to get outside the city - Our tour guide, Ari, was an absolute delight. He was incredibly kind, helpful, and spoke excellent English. He ensured that we were well taken care of throughout the tour and made sure we were comfortable. Ari’s enthusiasm and positive attitude made the experience much more enjoyable. He was always attentive to our needs and provided us with valuable tips and tricks about the park. He even showed us some hidden gems, historical facts, insight of mexico and made sure we had a great time. The park itself was fascinating and full of interesting sights. The water in the waterfalls was warm and inviting, and I highly recommend visiting.

Can't go wrong - Gerardo, you have made our experience worthwhile! You gave us all information and let us enjoy the place. Thanks for the toilet paper! Above all thanks for bringing my husbands sunglasses after he forgot it at Toleantego. You did not have to but you did. You are not just a good tour gods bit a decent human being.

A truly incredible experience and place! - We had an absolutely amazing experience with this tour company on our trip to Tolantongo! The tour was easy to book and the communication was clear, friendly, and professional. Everything was perfectly organized, and our guide was so kind and attentive. He took us to one of our best meals in our trip to Mexico (barbacoa de borrego). Having a guide made the long day trip so smooth and stress-free.
Tolantongo itself is beyond stunning — the bright turquoise thermal pools built into the cliffs feel unreal, and the warm water surrounded by mountains is pure relaxation and rejuvenation. The caves and waterfall add such a magical, adventurous vibe, and floating in the river was so much fun. It’s the perfect mix of beauty, peace, and adventure — an unforgettable experience! If you are in CDMX you definitely should squeeze in this day trip!
I would also highly recommend this tour company to anyone visiting Mexico. Professional, kind, fun, and truly top-notch service!

Great Guide & Experience, But Vehicle Comfort Needs Improvement - Ricardo was an excellent driver and guide. His car was clean, his driving was safe, and most importantly, he was very responsive whenever we had questions or needed anything. He also provided great recommendations for activities and places to eat, which made the experience even better.
That said, the vehicle choice was a drawback. The tour involves roughly nine hours of driving, and a sedan is not appropriate for that length of time. For a trip like this, a larger van—or at minimum the option to upgrade to an SUV—would make a big difference in comfort.
I would still recommend the tour because Ricardo was fantastic and Tolantongo is a unique and worthwhile destination. However, if another company offered the same experience with a larger vehicle, I would likely choose that instead. Even as someone in my mid-20s and generally comfortable with long travel days, the extended time in a sedan left me quite sore, so others may find it even more challenging.
