We had a wonderful time... - We had a wonderful time with Hurican Ramirez jr at the Terrace Pomonal on Feb 5, 2025. He answered all our questions about his long career (averaging 200 matches a year, his broken bones and heated rivalries in and out the ring.). Also his legendary family and the origin of the mask. They were even kind enough to bring out a cake for my partner’s birthday and Hurican carried it and sang happy birthday. After many questions, he patiently posed for photos with us making silly requests for different wrestling holds and then signed our masks and tickets. Danele did a great job translating and will only get stronger at English as this tour grows. It also would have been nice to have a screen showing Hurican in action. We enjoyed some tacos and michelada tamarindo during the meet and greet courtesy of Pomonal. Danele then led us through the crowded streets to the Mecca of Mexican wrestling, Arena Mexico. He got us to the gate and gave us directions on finding an usher to get us to our seats. It was easier than it sounded but could be intimidating for some. The seats were good and the wrestling for the most part lived up to its billing. There are some wonderful high-flying athletes in the sport. And yes much of it is staged but still impressive. As fun was the crowd. They were right into it. Couple of notes on our seats. They were to the side of the wrestlers’ entrance way so we couldn’t see that and also I’m guessing it was for the cameras, the ref stood in the corner in front of us so we didn’t always get a clear view of the action in centre of ring. But all in all a great experience and great fun.
