Starting from Rifugio Sapienza in Nicolosi, a cable car will transport you to 2,500 meters. From this point, your hike will commence towards the highest altitude permitted by volcanic monitoring. The ascent takes approximately 1.5 hours, passing several craters, including those created during the 2001 eruption. Along the route, there will be ample opportunities to rest and capture photographs.
Upon reaching the Barbagallo Craters, situated around 3,000 meters, you will be treated to an exceptional view of the summit craters. After an extended pause near the craters, you will descend towards the 2002 craters, traversing volcanic sand, before returning to 2,500 meters and taking the cable car back to Rifugio Sapienza.
