- Rifugio Sapienza - Starting at an elevation of 1,900 meters in the “Rifugio Sapienza” area - Nicolosi Nord, we will be guided by our Alpine and Volcanological Guides, the only professionals qualified and authorized to lead tours on active volcanoes. We will ascend to 2,500 meters using a cable car service. Then, with the assistance of specialized off-road minibuses, we will reach an altitude of 2,800 meters. From this point, the actual trek begins, taking us through recent lava flows (the latest from January 2024), lunar landscapes, and breathtaking views, ultimately reaching the summit of Etna at approximately 3,340 meters. Here, we can marvel at the spectacle of its four active craters, with their constant fumaroles, continuous explosions, and surprising bursts of ash and steam.
The descent will be on a primarily sandy surface, making it an easy and enjoyable journey back to the valley. We will pass by the craters of the most recent eruptions (2002/2003) and other volcanic points of interest until we reach 2,500 meters, from where we will take the cable car back to our starting point.

The meeting point is located inside the "Monte gebel" bar (which is located to the right of the Rifugio Sapienza) you can park your car in the adjacent car park and inside the bar you will find the guides waiting for you (Edoardo, Fabrizio, Emiliano)

The perfect mix for a unique experience - Professionalism, seriousness and lots of fun in places that leave you breathless for their uniqueness. Experience not to be missed if you really want to be ecstatic by the most active volcano in Europe, with a really high level and super nice Guide like Edward and his colleagues!

Edward was our guide in the ascent and descent to Etna.
We climbed up to 2,900 meters because unfortunately this month (August 2021) is in force the prohibition to climb further, since the volcano is in activity.
It was a wonderful experience.
Edward is very professional, kind and nice: he explained the whole activity of a volcano and was very helpful in giving answers to all the questions that the group put to him.
The guides have divided us into several groups, so as not to be numerous and for convenience of language: Italian, English and French.
The departure was punctual and then also the return: they were perfectly respectful of the schedules communicated.
We were provided, included in the price, all the equipment: socks (disposable), hiking boots, windbreakers, and backpack (all clean).
I advise everyone to turn to this very serious and professional reality.

Hiking on Etna - It is a great experience with a trilingual guide, speaking good French
We saw different craters including 1 with black smoke coming out
They're pretending to fight. Jackets and helmet
The ascent by funicular and bus then hiking 800 m elevation gain
I have no regrets about making this trip. Superb day
The guide is considerate and very attentive to all questions

Emiliano was a great guide! - It was perfect! Emiliano guided us and he was the best guide. Even though we didn’t have a view on top, he gave us the best possible time.

Exciting - Unique experience that I will always keep neither my heart but especially in my eyes .. the show is devastating few you feel alone with mother nature, not to mention that the guides are totally prepared and available to dispel any doubt, especially Edward :).
I highly recommend it.

Beautiful hike on Mount Etna - The trip to the top of Etna was really very nice, absolutely recommended. Emiliano is a very prepared guide, he is nice and helpful. His explanations are interesting and the tour is absolutely worth doing. You reach the top of the crater then after a break with packed lunch you start the descent during which you also walk in a channel dug by a lava flow.
The trip is worth the cost!

Highly recommended - We climbed to the summit craters with our 12 and 14 year olds. The visit is organized very well, Edward is an excellent guide, is very prepared, attentive, very kind and always available to provide explanations.
I expected a great experience, it was something unique and unforgettable. The colors, the lunar valleys, the landscapes of the two coasts.
It is definitely something to try and this year, due to covid, there are fewer tourists than usual. When in doubt it's the right time.

Perfectly guided tour to the summit - Perfectly organized tour. Has exceeded our expectations in every respect. Lots of information about the history of the volcano from competent and sympathetic mountain guides. Good group size, easy ascent to the summit. We really liked it. The wind was blowing - It was not possible to climb to the top for security reasons. We made the classic tour with Eduardo an excellent guide. Except now I'm waiting to see if you'll refund me the difference i.e. 2x20=40E

Etna? Yes but when and with who? - The trip itself was average because of weather but the staff doesn't speak english well.
The clothes offered from day before were mostly wet (was raining before). The guides were mostly italian speaking so we didn't get much from the stories. When we were on top there was a terrible wind and almost no visiblity, we should be heading down instead of continuing the excursion.
