Day 1: Becho-Mestia. Guests will be picked up from their preferred location in Tbilisi and will head directly to Mestia. The journey includes a drive past the Enguri Hydro Power Plant dam as they enter the Enguri River valley. A visit to the village of Becho is next, renowned for its breathtaking view of the spear-shaped double summit of Mt. Ushba. The route continues through medieval villages, offering a close-up view of towers constructed between the 9th and 12th centuries. These iconic towers, with their distinctive architecture and historical significance in Georgia, are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Arrival in Mestia, the main town of the Svaneti region, is expected by evening.
Day 2: Mestia. Spend the day exploring the remarkable mountain town of Mestia and its surrounding villages. The day begins with a visit to the Margiani Tower Museum, followed by the world-renowned Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography in Mestia. The journey continues to nearby villages, providing an opportunity to discover medieval churches and chapels.
Day 3: Mestia-Ushguli. From Mestia, the tour proceeds to Ushguli, the highest-altitude inhabited village in Europe, situated at 2,100 meters. Ushguli is located at the base of Mount Shkhara and comprises four villages: Chvibani, Zhibani, Chazhashi, and Murqmeli. Guests can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Shkhara before returning to Mestia.
Day 4: Zugdidi-Archeopolis. Descend from the mountainous region around Mestia to Zugdidi, the central town of the Samegrelo region. Here, visitors will see a medieval castle and the Dadiani Dukes Palace, and can also visit the Zugdidi Museum, which houses the famous Napoleon’s Mask. The next stop is Archeopolis in the ancient town of Kolheti, known as the site of the Golden Fleece in Greek mythology. Learn about this intriguing city that played a crucial role in the 7th-century Byzantine-Sasanian War. Overnight stay will be in Kutaisi.
Day 5: Kutaisi-Gelati-Tbilisi. The day begins with a visit to Bagrat Cathedral, a masterpiece of Georgian medieval architecture built in the 11th century. Next, guests will visit the renowned Motsameta and Gelati monasteries, founded by King David IV, which served as the cultural and intellectual center of Georgia. Return to Tbilisi.
