- Souq Waqif - Souq Waqif (Arabic: Sūq Wāqif, “the standing market”) is a vibrant marketplace in Doha, Qatar. It offers traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs, along with a variety of restaurants and Shisha lounges. The original structure, showcasing traditional Qatari architecture, dates back to the 20th century and was renovated in 2006. Established over a century ago near the dry riverbed known as Wadi Musheireb, it was a hub for Bedouins and locals to trade goods, especially livestock. Souq Waqif is a popular tourist attraction in Doha.
- National Museum of Qatar - The National Museum of Qatar, located in Doha, opened its current building to the public on March 28, 2019, replacing the original 1975 structure. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the building draws inspiration from the desert rose crystal found in Qatar. Visitors can explore a series of galleries that cover three interconnected themes, arranged in a loose chronological order. Exhibits include the natural history of the desert and Persian Gulf, Bedouin culture artifacts, historical displays on tribal wars, the formation of the Qatari state, and the discovery of oil to the present day. The museum’s collections are enhanced by audiovisual displays and carefully curated treasures.
- Katara Cultural Village - Katara is a cultural village situated on the eastern coast of Doha, Qatar, between West Bay and the Pearl. Historically known as “Katara” before the 18th century, it had a soft opening in October 2010 during the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, which it continues to host. Katara features an open amphitheater, an opera house, a multi-purpose cinema, a conference hall, a beach, and a souq. In November 2015, a museum dedicated to the country’s maritime heritage was inaugurated.
- The Pearl Island - The Pearl-Qatar is an expansive artificial island covering nearly four square kilometers. It is the first land in Qatar available for freehold ownership by foreign nationals. Named “The Pearl” because it is constructed on a former major pearl diving site, it reflects Qatar’s rich history in the pearl industry. Before the introduction of more affordable Japanese pearls, Qatar was a leading pearl trader in Asia. The Pearl-Qatar is designed to resemble a string of pearls.
