Nah Yah Cenote - 10:20 a.m. | Depart from Mayapan and head directly to the Nah-yah cenote, a limestone formation created by rainwater erosion over thousands of years, forming a dome and revealing a fresh water vein, an oasis in the jungle. For the Mayans, it symbolized the entrance to the underworld.
10:40 a.m. | Arrive at the Nah-yah cenote, pay the entrance fee directly at the Mayan cooperative’s box office, and note that life jackets are mandatory (100 pesos per person).
10:45 a.m. | Begin swimming in the cenote, with a maximum stay of 1 hour.
11:45 a.m. | Depart from the cenote and travel directly to the town of Mágico de Maní. -
Mani - 11:45 a.m. | Depart from Cenote Nah-yah with direct transfer to the magical town of Maní, the historical starting point. It was in Maní where Fray Diego de Landa conducted the act of faith, burning most Mayan codices, deemed profane. Today, only three codices remain in museums worldwide.
12:35 p.m. | Arrive in Maní and first visit the Meliponario U LU’UMIL KUXTAL. The visit is free, but a suggested donation of 50 pesos per person is appreciated to support the family maintaining the garden. The visit lasts 45 minutes.
1:15 p.m. | Leave the Meliponario and head to a local restaurant (food and drinks not included), with a dining time of 1.5 hours. Afterward, begin the historical tour.
2:15 p.m. | Start the historical tour.
3:30 p.m. | Return to Merida.
