It was located 12 kilometers north in the region of Colophon, one of the twelve Ionic Cities. Just two kilometers to the south lies the coastal town of Notion.
• Metropolis Antik Kenti - The first destination is the classical city of Metropolis. The site was inhabited during the Neolithic period, with evidence from the Hittite era as well. It showcases a rich history from classical, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman times. The earliest settlement dates back to the Neolithic period, indicating contact with Troy. The acropolis of Metropolis revealed a seal with hieroglyphics similar to those of the Hittites. During the Hittite period, the town was known as Puranda. Bademgedigi Tepe is an archaeological site abundant with local Mycenaean pottery, dating from the 14th to the 12th centuries BC and beyond. A notable discovery is a Mycenaean depiction of a ship on a Bademgediği Tepe vase, highlighting advancements in ship technology and iconography. During this era, the city flourished culturally and economically, primarily under the Hellenistic Kings of Pergamum.
