- Blue Lagoon - The Blue Lagoon in Malta is a charming bay featuring shallow, azure waters, situated on the western coast of Comino island, nestled between Malta and Gozo. A visit to Malta’s Blue Lagoon promises one of the most breathtaking views across the Maltese islands, drawing in hundreds of tourists daily during the bustling summer season. It is undoubtedly the main attraction that lures visitors to Comino island during this time of year.
- Crystal Lagoon - Comino (Maltese: Kemmuna) is a petite island within the Maltese archipelago, located between Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea, covering an area of 3.5 square kilometers (1.4 sq mi). Named after the cumin seed, the island has a permanent population of just two residents and is part of the municipality of Għajnsielem, in southeastern Gozo, from where a priest and a policeman commute.
- Church of St. John The Baptist - The parishioners, known for their craftsmanship and building skills in Maltese Limestone, expressed a desire to construct a larger church. Built in the 20th century on the site of a previous church, it was designed by Maltese architect Ġużè Damato. The dome’s internal diameter is 27 meters (89 ft), with a height of 75 meters (246 ft) and a calculated weight of 45,000 tons. The circumference measures 85 meters (279 ft). Supported by 8 large concrete columns covered with stone, the dome is the world’s third highest unsupported dome. The interior boasts fine sculptures and modern paintings, with a floor of polished Carrara marble. The Rotunda is the largest church in Gozo and a distinctive landmark.
- Sanap Cliffs - Munxar (Maltese: Il-Munxar) is an administrative region of Malta, located on the southern side of Gozo island. As of March 2014, its population was 1,454 people. Nearby, Xlendi Bay is a popular tourist resort nestled in a fjord-like inlet among high cliffs. Xlendi Bay is a small fishing village, ideal for bathing and diving, especially in summer. Visitors and locals alike enjoy the late spring and early autumn sunsets, often captured by artists or photographers.
- Xlendi Bay - Ix-Xlendi Bay is a favored spot for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. It features a small sandy beach leading into shallow waters, perfect for all ages, while the more adventurous can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in deeper waters off the long stretch of rocks bordering the beach.
- Dwejra Bay - Dwejra, with its striking coastal formations and sea cascading over the rocks, is a captivating attraction. Visitors can swim in the bay’s spectacular deep sea, the calm shallows of the inland sea, or the foamy waters around the Blue Hole – one of Gozo’s premier dive sites. Dwejra is also home to Fungus Rock, or “Il-Ġebla tal-Ġeneral” (General’s Rock), named in memory of an Italian General who fell to his death centuries ago while overseeing quarrying in the area. Historically, a special plant believed to have medicinal properties grew on Fungus Rock, leading to heavy guarding during the Knights of Malta era. Anyone caught stealing the crop faced death or a life rowing the Knights’ galleys. The crop was harvested and transported to the mainland using a primitive system of baskets and pulleys.
- Ta’ Pinu National Shrine - The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’ Pinu (Maltese: Santwarju Bażilika tal-Madonna ta’ Pinu) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine located approximately 700 meters (2,300 ft) from the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo, Malta’s sister island.
- Ghasri - Wied l-Għasri, the Għasri Valley, is a wonderful location for a country walk or bike ride, particularly in winter and spring. L-Għasri Valley is a deep gorge-like valley with towering cliffs carved into the Lower Coralline Limestone and the overlying Globerigerina Limestone. Prickly pears and capers grow on and around the dry stone walls in and around the valley. In late spring, the area transforms into a carpet of red poppies.
- Xwejni Salt Pans - The Saltpans on Gozo’s northern coast, just up from Marsalforn, are a mesmerizing landmark of great importance, preserving an ancient trade and skill while harvesting one of Gozo’s vital natural raw materials – salt.
- Qbajjar Bay Beach - Ix-Xwejni (Xwejni Bay) and il-Qbajjar (Qbajjar Bay), easily accessible through Marsalforn or iż-Żebbuġ, are two shallow bays adjacent to each other, featuring small pebbly beaches and rocky stretches leading into clear blue waters. Excellent swimming is enjoyed here by locals and visitors alike, and it is also a popular diving spot, especially for beginners. A few fishing boats are based here, and there are a couple of bars and restaurants along the seafront.
- The Citadel - Only a few families reside within the Citadel walls today. In the square, visitors will find the magnificent baroque Cathedral of Gozo dedicated to Santa Marija, or more precisely the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, as well as the Law Courts and the Bishop’s Palace.
