- Healesville Sanctuary - Home to more than 200 species of Australian native animals and set amidst natural bushland, the Healesville Sanctuary is the ideal place to observe our iconic wildlife up close. An enhancement to the visit is a Kangaroo Encounter where you have the opportunity with a keeper to feed and pat these adorable animals (if the animal allows). A Koala Encounter is also available but there’s no touching or feeding involved, just an opportunity to get some amazing up close pictures. An additional fee applies for these encounters . Please advise if you wish to book this.
- Yering Station - You’ll enjoy a tasting of estate and reserve wines in the historic cellar door before adjourning to the modern light filled restaurant for an a la carte, main course meal, glass of wine and coffee.
- De Bortoli Winery - Set on more than 450 acres of vineyard clad hills, the visit to the De Bortoli Vineyard is a terrific end to the day. The wine tasting includes their estate and premium wines together with their iconic dessert wine, Noble One. The tasting is enhanced with a pairing of selected cheeses.

Embark on an intimate group tour, blending Victoria’s globally recognized Yarra Valley wine tasting experience with the observation of local wildlife. Depart from Melbourne on a journey to the Healesville Sanctuary, a refuge created for the preservation of threatened animal species. Spend your morning witnessing the habits of quintessential Australian animals like kangaroos, koalas, emus, and other native species.
Come early afternoon, head over to the Yering Station Vineyard for a delightful main course lunch complemented by wine tasting. The day comes to a close with a cheese and wine session at the De Bortoli Winery.

A Must-Do Tour in Melbourne - Perfect Blend of Nature and Wine - This was without doubt the best tour I’ve experienced on all my travels, and likely will remain a favourite for a long time.
From the start, communication was seamless — I had to reschedule both the tour date and the Koala encounter, and everything was handled promptly and with such ease. On the day, the group was small and well-balanced, which made the experience more personal and relaxed.
Our host Paul was wonderful — warm, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout. His way of sharing stories and insights made the sanctuary and vineyards come alive, and he created an atmosphere that felt more like traveling with a group of friends than being on a tour. I truly appreciated his energy and kindness.
The Healesville Sanctuary was beautifully done, and seeing the wildlife up close was a highlight. The Yarra Valley vineyards were stunning, and the wine tasting was a joy. The whole day flowed so naturally, balancing information, fun, and quiet moments to take it all in.
Highly recommend this tour — it was memorable, well organised, and left me feeling enriched and grateful.

Sanctuary & Wine tour - A must do tour. The sanctuary was great, loved seeing all the native animals. We paid extra for the kangaroo experience and it was amazing. We actually got to feed them.
Paul our guide was great and very knowledgeable he stayed with us pointing out things. The lunch was delicious and we enjoyed all the wineries.
Was a scenic ride as well and would do tour again if back in Australia.

The Experience of a Lifetime - I really enjoyed my trip to the Yarra Valley. I chose the Healesville Sanctuary and Wine Tasting combo tour. I had to reschedule once, but it was handled very smoothly. I did the tour solo, but was with a group of about 8 other people. Although, I was the only one who had the zoo package. They timed it out really well. The wine group was dropped of first and then the guide took me to the zoo. He recommended the noon bird show and it was great! I paid extra on the zoo's website for the up close koala experience. (Worth it!) But even without that, it would have been great. I was picked up around 1 and we headed off to a fabulous lunch. There were two wine tastings after that. My favorite one was the cheese and wine pairing. So good! Highly recommend this tour and company.

great day - Rob the guide and driver was great; knowledgeable and good fun. the Healesville sanctuary was very good and the time spend there long but not too long; visiting Yealing Station and having the tasting then meal followed by De Bertoli tasting and cheese was outstanding.

Wildlife & Wine Tour with Paul = A Fantastic Day! - We had a fantastic day with Paul on the Wildlife & Wine Tour with Vinetrekker. The itinerary was well balanced—visiting a selection of wineries, enjoying a delicious lunch with beautiful views, and spending time at the Healesville Sanctuary where we saw koalas, baby Tasmanian devils, kangaroos, and even a joey.
Paul was an excellent guide—punctual, very knowledgeable about Melbourne and the Yarra Valley, and extremely accommodating. The van was comfortable and made the day even more enjoyable.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend Vinetrekker Wine Tours.

Great day of animals and wine - A greqt day in the Yarra Valley. Our guide was extremely informative about Melbourne, wineries, and (for us) Australia in general. It was a pleasure to be in his competent hands. Seeing the animals (and the bird show) at the Healesville Sanctuary was a great experience. One can really get close and experience them. The wine tastings and the lunch and cheese pairings were a pleasure. We are glad to have spent the day this way and recommend this tour.

Recommended Activities in Melbourne - It's a little expensive, but let's be inspired! It was a trip that started with that, but it was very satisfying!
The price includes both the winery and the sanctuary (where the animals are protected), lunch at the winery and transfers, and Bob, who was in charge of the tour, spoke English slowly and was very easy to listen to.
If you are in doubt, I definitely recommend it 💡
We were also lucky enough to see wild kangaroos along the way, and when we came to Melbourne again, it was a tour we wanted to use!

The 1200 bird show at the Sanctuary is a must-see!!!

Well organized tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a nice lunch & tour at a good winery - Well run tour. Good attractions. Lunch and wine tasting at a well respected winery. Also the tour to Australia wildlife sanctuary was world class

This was the perfect day... - This was the perfect day tour. Spent the morning with native animals at the sanctuary. The bird flyover is not to be missed. In the afternoon we had tastings at 2 wineries and a lovely lunch. Rob knew his stuff.

Wonderful trip : ) - Such an enjoyable trip : ) The tour included visits to Healsville Sanctuary and the two wineries - Yering Station and De Bertoli, each offering a unique experience. What impressed me are the wine paring with different kinds of cheese at De Bertoli where you got a chance to taste their dessert wine, Noble One year 2020 and 2000! and also my first time tasting Shiraz with Viognier at Yering Station. Shiraz is actually not my favourite but when it comes with Viognier, it is quite smooth. Most importantly, Paul, our tour guide is such a good host with excellent information of wine and overall Melbourne. Just book the trip with Paul, no need to think : )
