Decadent Tasting Tour! (And sightseeing) - We came to Melbourne from the U.S. for the Australian Open tennis tournament and wanted to do a tour before leaving. This one was SO much fun! Bernie was an outstanding and entertaining tour leader. We did fruit, chocolate and wine tasting (3 vineyards) and because of timing, mostly everyone had been or was going to tennis so we all bonded over that (plus the wine). It was an international group, which added to the fun since we love talking to people from everywhere. We highly recommend it!

Such a fun and wholesome trip! - It was a beautiful day for an amazing tour. Bernie, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable about both the city and the countryside, and his jokes kept the atmosphere light and fun throughout the day. He made a genuine effort to chat with each group individually, which made everyone feel included and welcome. The fruit and chocolate tastings were a delightful touch, and every winery we visited was absolutely beautiful. Ending the day with a wine bottle was the perfect, thoughtful finish to such a memorable experience.

girls day out - I had brought the tickets to this experience about two weeks prior. Even though we’re local to Melbourne, it was 100% worth get up early and having someone else show and drive you around the Yarra Valley and go to some hidden gems. The first went to Yarra Farm Fresh, Chocolaterie, Tokar Estate (3 wine tasting), Rochford (4 wine tastings, 5 if you’re lucky 😉) and then Hubert Estate (4 wine tasting). It was great that you ordered and pay for the food prior Rochford as when you got there it was ready for you and so well organised giving you more time to explore the vineyard. This tour was great for locals and tourists. Pete our guide, who we learnt had only been with Ricks Tours for a couple of months, was phenomenal, so approachable and friendly, true bloke and made our day with his facts, jokes and tunes on the way back into Melbourne! Our group had 22 people in it, which was perfect as you could socialise if you wished or not, as everyone mingled at lunch it was an overall great vibe!

Some vineyards better than others. - We started the tour at the strawberry farm. It was fine and as described although personally I got nothing out of it. You get 1 strawberry, 1 cherry and one small slice of Apricot to try plus a small piece of nougat. Seems quite a detour for a small tasting but it was as described. Next was the chocolate visit. Good with 12 samples and time but not too much to look around. Next was the first winery. I don’t recall the name but was ok with a short explanation on each sample. Next was Rochford which we found poor. The guy doing the tasting said close to nothing - just poured the wine and then went off for 10m before next tasting. Poorest of the 3! Also where we had lunch which was fine. Final one was St Hubert’s which was by far the best of the 3 with the Sommelier trying to give some good insights. Our host - Bernie - was insightful and shared local knowledge including a diversion to see some Roos. In summary it was a Saturday and all were busy but the 2nd one seemed too busy to cope with the numbers. Change it. The other 2 good for a visit. Fruit and chocolate are extras which given it is a vinery tour are not what people are there for but they’re as described above. One final comment is that the ninety tours are nothing like we have had in S Africa, New Zealand and the US with no interaction with the vines or tour of the vineyard and wine making.
